Canon 5D mk3 in Spring

Test charts aside, have u guys seen the sample images from canon's website? Frankly if I were to use these real world pictures as reference, the ISO and noise performance of the 5D3 at 3200 and 6400 isn't something which the current 5D2 & 1D4 couldn't do. And in terms of details wise, the level of details isn't as Impressive as canon made it out to be i.e. it's not a far cry from the level which the 5D2 and 1D4 could resolve.

To add salt to the wound, canon still refuses to give uncompressed video thru the 5D3!!! This is something which Nikon did right! And oh, Did I mention that the compressed video quality of 5D2 and 1D4 sucks? Oh yea, you can quote all the famous big names and all the big movies which are created by them, but heck the quality to me just cannot make it...

Simple: switch to Nikon lor...

No point blasting the manufacturer lah, they purposely left some small details out so that they can "improve" their next version. As long as u got money inside your pocket, you are the one who choose who u give the money to

Nah, i m not a nikon user bashing canon. Me myself am a canon user. I m just a canon user objectively analyzing the 5D3. I m someone without much regards to brand loyalty. I only care abt real world performance n not testcharts academic results. I may be a canon user but if they giv me junk, I won't hesitate to criticize them. The real good thing abt the 5D3 is just the AF. This good AF should long due be in 5D2 but canon purposely crippled the 5D2 to make way for an "upgrade" in 5D3... That really sux... And to top it off, I hate compressed video

I disagree that the AF is the only major difference. On paper at least, many features n components have been upgraded, including a brand new sensor. Perhaps it's a testament to how good the 5Dm2 is that even with these upgrades, a number of 5Dm2 users still think this camera 'can fight' with the m3 bar the AF. The proof of the pudding will be in the eating though, so I m looking forward to reading some reviews on the m3, both by real world users n test chart lab tests!

I'm surprised Canon only claim a 2 stops improvement in high ISO over the mkII. I mean the D800/E looked already like a 2 stops improvement over the D700 so far...

I am canon user too, not canon fan nor any fan... I like posts like yours, bcos we need debate, then it will be clear which one to choose. Till now i feel d800 gain upper hand... Lets wait..

Even if the D800 turns out to be a better low light shooter than the 5Dm3, i will still stick with canon. I am too invested in the system to switch.

The comparison of these two cameras is a purely academic exercise for me. In any case I believe both cameras are so good it doesn't really matter in practical terms any more.

I think changing system is crazy.... and one will lose quite a bit of money, so I am pretty much contented to stay with Canon too.......... and hope Canon continues to keep churning out GREAT products..... though it is bad for the wallet.... :faint:

I think the CP-1 shop staff is bluffing me, I guess many means ard 20? I don't think can exceed 50, it's an expensive cam after all. Shop like SLRR only got 5,6 ppl in the queue, don't think it's that "many" as CP-1 ppl said

Yes, I was wondering this too. My 7D can do it, so hopefully the 5D3 will be able to do it too... but then again the 7D has the built in flash which acts as the triggering agent.

430EX and 580EX no radio receiver inside, how are they going to be triggered. There is a reason the 600 has "RT" in it's name.
