Canon 5D mk3 in Spring

Wow Nikon just dropped a big one with the D800. Looks like unless the "dream specs" are real the actual 5DIII may be quite disappointing in its shadow.

4k usd? I saw nikon rumors says two models with 3k and 3.3k usd respectively.

Yes, I saw the same price points for both models but the latest official "leaked specs" say differently. I just hope that this won't influence Canon to increase pricing on the 5D Mk3.

I think the new FF camera by Canon will be slightly better. Canon "intelligence unit" must have uncovered the D800 specs. They wouldn't want to lose their market share in this segment.

That said, I must say I m very impressed with the D800.

D800 = US$2999.95 (available late March)
D800E = US$3,299.95 (available mid April)

Great, I think 5d3 will have roughly the same price. My guess is ard 3.9k sgd. I will buy 5d3 once it's available.

If similar or better spec than D800, and selling at 3.9k, I think you need to pre book with your favourite shop once announcement made, cos it will sure sell like hot cake. I predict canon to be prices higher.

The original MRSP for the 5D Mk1 (October 2005): US$3,300

The original MRSP for the 5D Mk2 (September 2008): US$2.700

The original MRSP for the 5D Mk3 (Feb/Mar 2012): US$???

Hopefully the downward trend will continue however unlikely. If the price remains the same as the 5D Mk2, many people will be happy.

Good advice! I agree with you, need to do a pre-order after it's announced. I doubt 5d3 will be more ex than d800 though.

There's a new theory that proposes two introductions by Canon. The first a Canon 5D X and the second a Canon 5D Mk3. The specs are as follows:

• 5D X
  • 45MP (With a pixel size similar to the power shot G1X)
  • 61 points AF (Similar to the 1DX but simpler)
  • 3.4 fps, 100-6400 (50-12800)
  • 1 Digic 5+ Digic 4
• 5D mk III
  • 22MP
  • 61 points AF (Similar to the 1DX but but simpler)
    6.9 fps, ISO 100-25600(50-51200)
  • 1 Digic 5+ Digic 4
  • Best HD video quality of any EOS camera

Several months ago, I heard of a new camera being introduced by Canon called a Nikon killer. If there's any truth to the above specs, it will be very interesting in the next few months.

Canon Rumours also shows another book available for pre-order from Chapters/Indigo Canada.

The publish date is noted as February 28, 2012. I tried ordering the book before cancelling to see if it would give me a shipping date but it did not. I can only assume that it will begin to ship on the publish date. Could this be the launch date for the Canon 5D Mk3 and the Canon 5D-X?

Yes, you are right. I posted this before his 2nd update. Sorry for the confusion but he also states that these could be placeholders for something else. I find it strange that different companies (Amazon, Chapters and Indigo) posted the same book and provided different publishing dates ranging from February 15th to February 28th to March 9th.

There's been too much activity on the rumour sites for something not to come. Something is definitely on the way. Canon has done a good job of keeping it secret up to now and it won't be long before an announcement is made.

I can be created as a new segment, and I read they could keep 5DII.....

If it is 5DIII, no point keeping the 5DII unless if it is another model, and then, you keep 5DII at current pricing..... :think:
