Canon 5D mk3 in Spring

I am still hoping the 5D Mk3/5DX/... comes with a swivel screen. The pictures from Kenya are actually the 7D Mk2/7DX/... field test for later launch. This, plus a lighter 24-70 Mk2 will make the jump to FF sooo much more tempting.

I agree with the swivel screen. I've got one on my Powershot G11 and its very convenient for overhead and low angle shots.

It was around this price too (USD) when 5D2 launched. I remember paying about S$3.6k for the body alone.

Nope that's not correct.

Launch MSRP for the 5dII was $4299/- in SG. Shop prices were about SG$3.9k at launch and slowly, slowly slided over the past 3 years.

This is close. Very close.

Honestly, you sound like you know a lot more than you're willing to admit. That's OK. :)

In choosing a DSLR, the three most important factors for me are: image quality, price and weight/size. I hope Canon knows what they're doing if they plan to go down this 22 MP road. That darn sensor better achieve 15 to 16 stops of dynamic range 'cos I expect the D4/D800 to offer 14 stops. Otherwise, it's a major flop IMO. Make no doubt about it: I will abandon Canon totally.

Not sure about launch, but I bought mine in Mar 2009 at that price because I shared the kit with another guy who bought the kit lens.

I agree with you, man. My guess for the 5d3 launch price is 4.0-4.1k SGD. I don't think it will be below 3.8k

Anyone know the current price of mark II ?

grey 2.8 plus minus local 3.1 plus minus

Looks like several Canon Powershot models will be introduced on Tuesday but there is no mention of the 5D Mk3.

We'll have to wait a little longer for the full frame announcement.

Who knows maybe a surprise might come up tomorrow? :p

No worries, once d800 is out, which will be tmr. I don't think canon will sit there and do nothing. 5d3 is very close now, haha

you are absolutely right. my contacts in canon told me that their lips are sealed until the launch of D800.

You mean, they'll talk after the Nikon announcement on Tuesday? If so, please keep us informed!!!

Please WOW me with price tag!!! Hahaha

Looks like Canon is now targeting Nikon as their greatest competitor. I'm curious to see how they are going to prove themselves

The Nikon D800 is about to launch today and the leaked 'official' specs include a US$4000 price tag. The D800 is supposed to come in two different models... the first called the D800 (with AA filter) and the second called the D800E (with AA filter removed). So I am not sure which model will be priced at the US$4000 level.

Hopefully, the 5D Mk3(X) will be priced much lower than this.

Would be awesome but I doubt we'll see a full frame dSLR with swivel screen in the next few years.
Well, you can buy one as a accessory...

LOL... oh well, I've lived without one on my DSLR so far, I guess another few years won't be so bad.
