If its up to me... just a real basic and highly affordable FF that doesn't even have HD video if Canon could keep the price down.

All I need...
* 12-18MP
* 19 AF point like 7D
* 4-5 fps for RAW
* 12800 ISO expandable to 25600...
* Digi 4 (dual chip) or 5 (single chip)

Selling no more than $2200, body only.... but dream dream dream of course.... :sweat:

price itself is already not possible :smilie:

7.5 fps for a 'budget' FF camera ?? That is quite good... Not everyone need 10-12 fps like those of the 1D MkIII or 1Dx... If a FF could do 6 fps for RAW... that is fast enough for most user... :thumbsup:

If the AF of the 5DmkIII is 1/2 as good as 7D and have 6fps, with the AF points not all congested in the centre, I will buy it too...... but since I went for 7D, it will be 4 yrs later.... :embrass:

Anything FPS > 5 is fast to me.

I hope this new babe can come will a better AF, similar to 7D and Faster FPS. with at least an IQ of 5D MKII or better.

I guess 5d MKIII won't be a sub 3k body.

Canon Rumors

Look at the spec if it is true...:-

22mp
61pt AF
7.5fps (this I’ve only seen once)
DIGIC 5+
New Battery Grip with Joystick
GPS Ready

61 pts..that's wonderful!

Wow if this is true, then I guess that Canon feels that very high mp's are no longer crucial and instead have focused on raising fps substantially and improving AF. This is a clear departure from Nikon's D800 at 36 mp's.

A 61 pt AF with 7.5 fps brings this camera easily into the range of wildlife and sports photography. This will step on the toes of the 7D market.

I'm sure that Canon has ensured that IQ is even better than the MkII. If that is the case, then the 5D MkIII promises to be a great camera!

I'm looking forward to the official announcement!

I feel Canon can have this in a 3D, and a 5D mkIII with slower frame rate, etc... and both can still be hot seller..........

I feel professional grade cam is bought by Pro, and that segment is smaller.... while prosumer have a wider % than the pro category...

So if the prosumer range, they have 2 FF for cam, 1 each for Studio & Sports, and both at diff price, it will help them make more profits..... ie. moving 1D & 1Ds to prosumer range and let them have a dilemma.... while the Pro get the 1DX....

I only pray I can afford the price and be the 1st to reserve! :D

2 FF one with slower FPS? who wants to buy that when they can do the same on the one with faster FPS. They will just kill the sales for the one with slower FPS no?

Perhaps he meant that they would be introduced at different price points... the slower fps model at a lower price point and the higher fps model at a premium. (Kinda of like the 1D and 1Ds... expect reversed) :dunno:

February 7th is a 'Tuesday' which is the day that Canon uses to make most of its announcements.

I did meant that 2 FF cam at diff price... with a big price diff, it is possible that they will not cannibal the sales.....a 5D at sub S$3000 price point could sell quite a lot....

I agree with that. There would be tons of people who currently own xxD and xxxD models that would upgrade to a full frame camera at a sub S$3000 price. I guess the next question is.... would Canon be cannibalizing sales of its lower models?

If those specs are turning out to be true I'll be one of the first in line to get one.

Yes, it looks pretty good to me too. I'm glad that they didn't go crazy with ultra high mp's.

It's a CR2 rumour, so its got some weight behind it. Even so, we'll know for sure on February 7th.

I do not think so.... 60D price point is around $1200 for body. Price point diff would be $1700 or so.... it is already a different market segment.

I would think that if a 60D or xxxD or xxxxD buyer go for the FF, it is considered upsell instead.....

7D market could be slightly hit, as 7D is closest price pt to the FF instead..... but a FF at sub S$3000 price point with an old tec AF system will not interest 7D user... but will interest 3D instead.... so if 7D buyer buy 3D, upsell..... if 7D buyer buy 5D, also upsell....

Seems like more wins than lose for Canon.... but it is just my guess only.... let's wait for the announcement.... anxiously......

I call 61 AF pts BS.

This comes from a reliable source in another forum, someone who has actually handled the camera:
"AF is great, better than the current camera. But if you need the best, go 1Dx."

More info:
"Sorry can't give specific details in viewfinder blackout time and shutter lag, all I can tell you is I held a camera that felt like a 7D but it was no 7D . The mirror box was different and the move of the mirror had more 'slap' than the 7D. This was right after I signed a paper that told me I was not allowed to give specs of the camera I held..."

This makes 7.5 fps believable. Regarding pixel count, I am inclined to go along Thom Hogan's thinking and believe Canon will stay below 25 MP.

However, like I said earlier, I need low cost and low weight, essentially a Rebel FF. If that ain't happening, I'm off to Sony.

Bro, if have, let me know can...:devil: I also wish for above.... don't care very much how good the veedeo is, don't use them..... if they drop the veedeo and sell it just below $2k.... wah..... :bsmilie:
