Canon 5D Mk II - So good??

haha Brownies, yes, kodak no :(

The price point for a 5Dmk2 is a lot higher versus xxxD, xxD and even the 7D. So to even get one, you need to come up with fair bit of change. If you're going to plonk down this amount of cash, most people will really think about it versus just buying it on impulse.
Less people buy it, less people that don't know what they are getting, buy it, so in turn... less people selling it...

honestly with most things in life, you don't have to 'justify' owning whatever you want. its a matter of what you can afford.

i've seen people plonked down a lot more money than a 5D2 worth for more useless stuff. in the realm of expensive toys, 3.5k for a 5D2 is a fart in the wind.

word.
prada bags
i mean honestly.. $2000+ for a piece of sweatshop-stitched leather.. really?

then again they have to pay the photographers with their leaf aptuses to go and take the photos for them though

As for image quality, probably hard to quantitate because it also depends on the lens. 5k setup versus a cheaper setup. I dunno, I think value for money still lies with Olympus. But I suppose if u want to go for the best (I suppose in terms of IQ) and the more expensive, probably the 135 FF canons or nikons?

sorry mate but what exactly is your point?
if you want go and bash canon and nikon and say oly is the better brand go ahead and do it in your own time.... we don't need to know...
its not like we go around on the oly and sony and whatever else part of the forum and go bash them right? ;p

haha..i like the way u say this....

if so many things in the world needs justification,i will live 50 years shorter..why everything also must justify...justify and more justify...is your money...spend it like u like it....

U are the first guy in this entire thread of more than 44 replies that actually think I am bashing Canon or Nikon. So disappointed to see things starting to go downhill. Perhaps you are a bit sensitive. Let me clarify, all I am saying is that perhaps if u really want the best or one of the best in IQ, go for Canon 5D Mk II. But if cannot afford it, but need something that is of more value for money, go for Olympus. It is a bit like buying a Lambo or Ferrari versus a Porsche kind of thing. Top speed of Lambo / Ferrari more than 300 kmh (I think), top speed of Porsche (280 kmh) - Porsche about half the price of Ferrari / Lambo. But of course, the better car, in whatever way u wanna define it eg. prestige, looks, top speed etc, Ferrari is better. (just giving a rough example).

Perhaps I should remove my signature. People always assume that just because I own that brand of equipment, that I have sold my soul to them. Perhaps some people ARE that way, but I am not. Whatever brand it is, like so many Canon users which have replied to my thread, it is all a tool. U just get whatever tool that gets the job done. And I think that they are absolutely right and I respect them for it. Now lets keep the thread discussion healthy.

Somehow I feel that Sony DSLR equipment is more "value-for-money".

The A850, a FF camera, costs almost as much as a D300s or a 7D.

Their entry level price point is unbeatable.. 699 for a body with kit lens?

However if you are a fan of Olympus colors or equipment operation, then Olympus it shall be.

$5.2K for a Canon 5D Mk II Kit Set. Its just a matter of how willing are you to part this amount of $$$.

I saw people buying a few custom IEM ( ~$1K & above each ) & branded wallet.

Some people are willing to spend on food / tour but not other thing.

It's just a matter of preference. Doesn't mean that u have to be rich to own it.

nothing is expensive in this world, it is a question u can afford or not ;)

and yes i would say remove the equipment signatures... to me it does not matter who uses what, as long as you get the final result!

Ha...u mean that Sony FF DSLR is signficantly cheaper than the 3.6K initial outlay required for the 5D Mark 2? I din know that. Right now, my options to experience 135 FF is first the 5D followed by D700. I din really consider the Sony FF options.

Well, the difference between a 5D2 and the A850 is close to 1k..

sony FF quality is amazingly.... bad. this is ofc in reference to noise control performance.

i believe a lot of salesman (not naming names, later they kenna trouble haha) like to use the sony FF as an example of the trinity requirements of image quality - processor+sensor+lens. if one of the 3 fails, the IQ is heavily compromised. putting in the top end D3X sensor and using CZ lenses on sony A900 doesnt mean much if your processor cannot deliver.

Yup, it is true that the noise control on Sony bodies are generally rather poor.

Somehow the 5D2 AF is slower than 450D in low light area.

Generally, the price of a Birkin starts at approximately $5000 USD, not including sales taxes, but can reach 5- and sometimes 6-digit prices, particularly when the bag is constructed from exotic animal skins.
