Canon 5D Mk II - So good??

Back on track, for anyone thinking that the 5D3 will come soon, think again. The 5D2 will not get phased out so easily - the proof of it comes in the form of major video firmware updates out even after 1 year of release.

the next 5D will probably be another 1-2 years time. its only coming to 1 yr next month. still a long way to start day dreaming and having wet dreams so soon for the gear wankers.

Perhaps the 5D MkIII is still a year or two away but people might be tempted to upgrade to a 3D or 1Ds Mk iv instead...

true but im sure most people won't be upgrading to the 1ds from a 5d cos the price difference is too much and 3d is a figment of people's imagination. :bsmilie:

in my case, i brought both my 50D and 5D2 to the F1, and 5D2 did much better than my 50D in AF locking and tracking. ended up using the 5D2 most of the time. >90% 5D2.

the shooter beside me had a 5D2 and a 1Dm3. He ended up using the 5D2 most of the time over the 1D3 as well from what i noticed.

I think this says alot about the focusing ability of the 5D2. I would tend to think user error in your case. As others have said, did u focus on the edges of the seat or just bam at the centre of the seat?

I used my 40D during F1. The AF tracking didn't let me down... but of course I didn't (and still don't) have any other DSLR to compare with lol. I thought the guy I quoted said that he preferred a 1.6x or 1.3x sensor because of the added focal length and because of the faster fps rate. Wah, I wanna touch a full frame camera soon... I hope 5dm3 comes out soon, so people with 5dm2 will replace their cameras and sell them for dirt cheap :bsmilie:

Panasonic released a major firmware update for the LX3 one year after its release (and at the time during which the LX3 is scarce worldwide). Those manufacturers are playing us. They want people to crave for their products. I'd understand if canon wants people to buy all the 5dm2s they produced. Then they'd release the 5dm3 and get the people with 5dm2 to upgrade :bsmilie:
