We buy mkiii now at $41xx, sell 3-4yrs later @ $2k when mk4 launch.. or buy 2 yrs later when it drops to $3k then sell @ $2k when mk4 launch abt a yr or 2 later.. isn't the depreciation almost the same or betta when buy during launch??

I bet those who bought 5D2 in 08/09 and selling now at $2k won't feel the pain at all

Might as well wait a while and get the kit set cheaper together with 24-70mk2.

I used mine for about 16 months and 'lost' maybe about $1.3k in value when I sold it, including the extra $$$ I threw in for the BG-E6 and Eg-S focusing screen. Not too bad lar, it captured a lot of nice photos and memories during the time I owned it. Not say won't feel the pain at all, but no regrets buying it. At least I bought it AFTER street price drop from $3.7k to $3.2k sometime in 2010.

Where did you hear that the 5D3 will come bundled with the 24-70 mark 2 as kit lens?

Problem is the supply of this lens is quite high now. That's why I couldn't be bothered to buy the kit set and try to resell the kit lens. If so profitable, the kit sets would have sold out before the body only sets.

Expected a flood of 24-105, since many desperate buyers will just take the kit set and resell the kit lens when body sets are sold out.

Agree. 7D and Prime make me happy enough.

I'm always a strong advocate of the belief that it's the photographer, not the camera that counts. So it's not a must to upgrade at every single turn of the way. But that said, the EOS 5D MK III is a very nicely worked camera and versatile from all angles. It doesn't make you a better photographer, but what it does, is give you images with much better IQ. And my advise for photographers dealing with fast(er) moving subjects out there to go for this camera instead of sweeping up the 5DmkII's that's going at less than half the cost of a 5DIII now, because the new AF system is just plain awesome. And if you are doing photography professionally, the better AF will help you reap rewards in the long run. Cheers!

I just tried the 5d3 in Tokyo. Very nice refreshing feel and the AF improvement is definitely very visible.
