ya boy! I see him on every ship:bsmilie:

I've not use the K10D yet but my K100D's autofocus still pales in comparison with the Canon 300D at all times.

So if the K10D AF is marginally faster, you'd not be missing Canon's fast AF. Go for it. :)

I heard bad reviews about 300D/350D AF all the time. Fast but inaccurate. Is that true? I much prefer a slower AF that gets it right all the time.

I have used a 350D for a year before getting my K10D. AF is quite accurate for normal shots but when it comes to moving objects like taking sports, the AF sometimes cannot keep up.

Personally I feel both AF speed are about the same for standard lens. The 350D with Canon's USM lens do focus faster and quieter, especially L lens. For 400D, I feel the AF is definately faster than the 350D.

well i beg to differ, when i do shootouts with my friend with his 300D, i noticed that he get shots of moving objects more than me.

accuracy wise, is it better to get a shot than no shot? wah lao i sound like a pro canon user. :D

I still love my pentax and still learning my way to use it the best i can.

well, if you want change just change it... but when canon comes out with a maybe 500D you be surprised by its performance again and at that time you will be asking the same question about jumping back.

all i can say is believe in what you have bought(350D) and make full use of it.
yes, i too have thought of changing my d50 to pentax but that would only be the case if i just started out and not now.

it's still not too late to change to pentax, just sell your d50 (plus other lenses you own).
unless you invest heavily on the N lenses.

yes i have invested quite heavily on lens. but seriously i don think there is a need to change as long as my current setup meet my needs. I only got the "WANT" for pentax and not "NEED". :sweatsm:

Hmmm i think one of the main adv of K10D over 400D is it has spot metering.

if u always shoot jpg and like fast AF speed as AF-S and USM, don go to Pentax forever.

if you like RAW, definitely, must go to K10D.

I think K10D's DR on jpg isn't that bad, i shot quite a few hundred and they look quite gd :)

DR is alright, but the jpg processing engine looks like one of the worse out there...

Not an expert like Phil but i think in terms of sharpness, they arent bad too.
And esp if one pp the jpgs.
can see from Fengwei's pics and others too, purely jpg.

Really? I think differently though ...

I don't see what your subjective impression has anything to do with a objectively demonstrated proposition.

It IS the photographer more than the camera in most cases (as your photos well demonstrate) but that's irrelevant for this particular purpose.

Well, I have been shooting jpg mostly w/ my Pentax (D, Ds and now K10D), and I haven't had any prolem w/ them so far. Maybe my standard is lower than most, I'm quite happy w/ Pentax's jpg output so far. But when shooting under complicate light comdition or those once in my life situation, I do use RAW.

I'm sure I'd be happy with a Canon or Nikon if I had one. It's just a camera, that's all. All current dSLR cameras are capable of making great photos, only pixelpeeping can distinguish the difference I think ...

Besides, so far only Phil's review (at DP Review) has low score on K10D's jpg output, most other review sites (released for now) don't seem to agree w/ that ...

Even Phil's reviews gave K10D a quite high overall score, but many people just missed the other great features that K10D have (SR, weather sealing, Dust reduction, Sv exposure, 22bit ADC, fine tune AWB, Selectable RAW format w/ dedicated RAW button, Large viewfinder ...), and best of all, value for money.

K10D's jpg output quality is on par of any other 10/8/6mp dSLR camera, it's just different from some of them, and it's the difference that some people don't like, but not because its jpg quality is inferior ...

Just my 2 cents.

What I meant was that K10D jpg processing engine isn't one of the worst out there, it's just different, but not the worst ...
