Hi Bro,

The trouble is after upgrading from my kit, I don't seems to get the wow factor in the pic which I would expect since its supposed to be a tack sharp glass.. that is the reason why I tested my lens for focusing problem and found the above. Is it normal?

How about uploading a few samples of shots taken with the new lens at different aperture values and good lighting condition to let us determine whether is is performing optimally?

Hi Bro, I actually tested after Bro RVF79 recommended.. Funny thing is i wont say mine has front/back focusing problem but the center is not perfectly focuse whereas the upper n lower are in focus...dunno if its normal bo...

i had crop it.

i think it's due to the wind that is blowing the spider...

BTW can you advise me where did you download the font for your watermark? I have been trying to find a font like this but no luck

My copy is rather sharp but I just sold my heart to sigma 17-50 lol. It is a pretty good lens. I crop 200% then can see some motion blur as I shiver lol.
But nonetheless, if we are not printing A1 size then dun need to sharpen so much till the photo looks fake. Chill and enjoy shooting

Bro rvf09, actually the photo looks fine to me. It is quite sharp actually, considering the wing. Even if without wing, you just need to sharpen alittle jiu ok Liao.

Oh you downloaded already? I too lazy to test, looking at some of the shots I had the same feeling as you, the image quality is similar to the 18-55. Have yet to do a comparison of the two though, but I guess its just me, might be expecting too much.

Actually I m like you very particular on sharpness till I keep changing lens n nv satisfied. lol. So now I just use the sigma lens and improve on techniques instead.

Haha yeah, focusing more on improving my skills. Btw I don't have the 17-55, I'm using the 15-85 lol. Will test the 15-85 and 18-55 and compare the difference in IQ one day

You really want sharpness? Go for primes. Get 35L or 135L and feel the knife in your eyes.

Or Medium Format with Digiback? Hurhurhur...

I won't advise anyone to send lens back to CSC to tighten the zoom mechanism as this can lead to unexpected optical issues (like decentered elements etc). Just live with it. Speaking from first hand experience. :cry:

Wish this fabulous piece of glass has better built.

My gosh, sorry to hear that. :sweat: I have been hearing some hits and misses about CSC recently regarding their lens calibration too.
