Cannon or Nikon?

Hi there!
I'm a Canon user myself. IMO, its best that you head down to the store to check it out by yourself. Different people, different preferences. :)
Personally I'm using the Canon 500D because it feels better on myself compared to the Nikon D5000 which i was both interested in.

You must consider the size too.

Feels Both camera that within your budget.

Make sure that the camera feels you. If you feel the camera than that is yours.

Do not listen to the salesman make your own research via any website.

TS, I think by putting a question as this is getting nowhere. You'd be better off writing both brands on 20 pieces of paper all of same size, shuffle them, put inside a bag/box and draw from it and the 1st brand with 5 draws WINS!;)

Agreed..My boss is one of those
I rather whack and toss iron in the gym

Cannon vs Nikon

One is a large calibre weapon the other is a camera manufacturer...

Personally I'll go for the weapon :D

Hi Guys in ClubSnap!
I'm a newbie here and I'm getting a DSLR camera soon.
But i do not know which brand to get and which is more "comfortable" to wield with.
It's my first time using a DSLR so guys Please give me some advice ;)
If possible , please give me some recommandation of model / brand to get for a begainner .
THANKS!!

Why just restrict urself to Canon and Nikon? Why nt give others like Pentax, Sony a chance as well.. Most decisive factors will boil down to weight, size, functions, advance opportunities, range of accessories, flexibility to upgrade, comfort, ergonomics etc..

Like wad most had recommend, i'll say pls use the "Search" function in the forum.
It will return results more than u need to know (beleive this is the 1001 qs on which cam to get....-_-" ) :)

Hi I guess the above link will hlep you.
Im summary, if u want to shoot digital SLR type HD movies as an important requirement, then the Canon 550D is better than the D90 as stated above. If photography rather than videography is the primary objective, the Nikon D90 offers extended features and overall performance abilities compared to the 550D while also offering the ability to capture very decent quality video clips to complement your stills.

I also wondered between these two models. & Finally decided to get Nikon D90. Having compare my D90 with my friend's Canon 550D I feel that D90 has better image quality. Just my point of view. ;)

Wow... I didn't know the 2 year old D90 can still pack such a punch!
Welcome to the club btw.

let me share with you guys with my own humble opinion.

If I were to get a DSLR, as a beginner. I would first join into a circle of friends shooting with a DSLR. Listening to them of their past experiences.

Up till this point of time. I think there isn't any reasons to say [ Canon is better than Nikon ] or [ Nikon is better than Canon ].

If my group of friends uses Canon (for example), I would get a Canon DSLR. Why ? So, if I were to go for an outing with them, I am able to share lens among each other.. Other than that, we could also discuss with each other if there is any problem with the camera.

For me, if my dad is willing to get me a DSLR, I would get a Canon 550D or Nikon D3000. [ I don't mind lower end bodies, cos' all Nikon or Canon lens are interchangeable ] So, once I take a bigger step forward to Photography, I could then upgrade my body.

... I don't mind lower end bodies, cos' all Nikon or Canon lens are interchangeable

Eh?? You sure their lens are interchangeable? That is one new feature I haven't heard before.

He's just a boy waiting for his dad to get him his first DSLR even before he tries to understand anything. Give him a break. Haha.

work within you budget.. do not overspend and enjoy shooting.. =)

I am able to share lens among each other..

Are you sure about this? I do not know how many people practice this, but i am really afraid to borrow my lens, just incase anything happens. Call me selfish or stingy but i never borrow my lens to anyone.

just remember not to get GAS - gear acquisition syndrome :)

Guess I didn't state my sentence clear.. What i meant was Nikon - could share lens among each other and Canon - could share among each other. Sorry for the misunderstanding haha:)
