[candycaine] sights and sounds of singapore

I love the #1, 2, 7... and most of the recent shots.

Felt for #8 maybe a square crop might look good too :dunno:

Hi wildcat,

Thanks a lot for your compliments and support! I don't think a square crop would be good for #8 because the photo would look too crammed. Also, I think the scene at Upper Seletar has a very cinematic feel... for me, 16:9 seems to work best :)

I like how you processed #2 and made it look like it's not usual of Singapore. (:. I recently saw a set of photos on flickr that post processes heartland shots in the same theme of colours/tone. Very nice (:

I face a similar dilemma in #9, instead mine's because I don't like how the trees in our reservoirs looks like in shots - very hard to compose a photo of the sky when they are in it. Personally I don't like how they look in photos. haha!

By the way, what equipment do you shoot with?

Hi chucklestoself,

Thanks very much for your kind compliments! I think the trees look okay... the canoe lanes in the Macritchie water just make the water look very... messy and cluttered!!!

My equipment list is not particularly interesting:
Olympus E620
14-42mm f3.5-5.6 kit lens
40-150mm f4-5.6 kit lens
Hoya ND8, CPL

I think.. that's all. I have a Tianya GND which I don't use often, because I prefer to do exposure blending. :)

Although this scene has been shot quite a number of times, and I hope this photo gives it a different flavour from what already is out there. My first impression of this scene was that it's pretty cinematic- seems like it's out of a movie like The Lake House or something. Tried to capture/bring out that mood with the crop and processing.

Enjoy!

Hi Candycaine,
Very lovely pictures..... Maybe we should form a student's thread (Young Sun Chaser). something like that...
I will also soon post some landscape - Sunrise & Sunset for C&C:)

Hey,

Hey,

Glad you like it :D hope your photos turned out good too!

A beauty! well done on the usage of the tele-lens..

Hi,

Thank you! I don't usually use my tele-lens, but I thought it would do the job better here ;)

Have a nice day!

Hey candycaine,

Wonderful series! Very good on ya for bringing out the beauty of MacRitchie Reservior.

Staying around Balestier area and have been to MacRitchie a few times to do some morning exercise but didn't really see anything spectacular. Guess you have sharp eye for details.

Maybe can all come out and shoot together someday ya? ;)

Keep it up!
