yes... standard 1yr worldwide warranty... so u can basically buy from anywhere...
Worldwide Warranty | Olympus Imaging Singapore

what power rating...? normally it only matter if the voltage is different.... but nowadays virtually ALL portable electronics comes with 110-240V adapter so that which ever country you go to the charger will still work... else you can imagine all the americans when they go overseas tour will have a problem how to charge their electronic devices... the only difference being the plug would be different -- which can easily be solved with a cheap converter that you can buy at your value$ shop....

newbie question- if apply the skins, will it be easy to peel them off in future without any stains?

Hi Guys, I'm new to photography and I'm planning to get the epl5. Got quoted 990 for a single kit with SD card and case. Is this a good deal? Anyone knows where you to get it for less? I've calculated if I get from Amazon it would be about 875 before shipping.
Appreciate the help!

U can try overseas sets. Amazon may have promotions at times. I remember it was much cheaper just a few weeks back.

oh yeah looks like prices increased $50 more... since black friday for about 2 months or so... the single kit lens was USD599... and body only is USD549... now i see it's all USD649... i think he's too slow to catch the earlier deal... :(

edit: seems that white one at amazon is still USD599... there is also silver and white one at USD599 here:

http://www.buy.com/prod/olympus-pen...era-with-14-42mm-f-3-5-ii-lens/242627080.html

or black body only is USD549: http://www.buy.com/prod/olympus-pen-e-pl5-mirrorless-digital-camera-body-only-black/242627074.html

so i think wan to buy better buy quick b4 the USD599 is gone...

Have you guys bought from that site before? Seems pretty sweet. They even have some 649usd packages that comes with filters, tripods extra lenses as well....seems like a better deal overall since the best quote I got from local shops is about 980.

which USD649 package got extra lens..? i only see these with the kit lens... with extra 40-150mm lens one costs USD779.95...

anyway unless u wan all those extra stuff... i wouldn't go for it... cos your shipping volumetric weight is just going to increase... especially with that bag will add up quite to total volumetric weight... the stuff that comes with it probably aren't that expensive..? anyway it's your call..

as for buy.com ... i think ppl in HWZ have bought SSDs from the site b4.... not sure about cameras though...

Ok thanks wacky for the advise, I failed to factor in the shipping weight of the misc items haha. Went to jb KSL ystd and the quoted me 2330rm for the single lens kit which is about 945. Don't know how to get pass customs though since I dont drive and there's this rule of spending 150SGD per singaporean haha. Anyway probably gonna get my set from harvey norman, not much incentive for me to pay cash upfront if these funan, sls shops are quoting me close to the 998 that harvey norman and gain city have quoted. Can use credit card earn points and get rebates some more. Or does anyone know where I can get a cheaper set, I dont mind paying cash.

actually if you are just buying the body only or the single kit lens you buy from overseas (at $599 SKL or $549 body only) still cheaper even if add in shipping (using middle-man and not direct shipping)... cos from experience... the shipping is about 2.0kg volumetric weight... mine came in at 4.5kg because the reseller packed it into a huge box... i had option to repack it and reduces to 2.0kg (which is USD20++ excluding GST)... you can refer to the posts earlier on on the cost breakdown:
http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/four...ra-]-olympus-pen-lite-e-pl5-announced-13.html

but what i am saying... with all those additional stuff... it's unlikely shipping going to be 2.0kg volumetric weight... especially with that bag... you may end up to be much larger than 2.0kg so shipping would definitely be much more... i dun have experience on how much all those stuff when u shipped over will weigh how much... so it's a risk you have to calculate...

I got mine from Plaza Angsana in JB too. They quoted RM2250 for the single lens kit and RM2700 for the twin. Both of which are excellent value if you go JB often and also change your Singdollars at Collyer Quay The Arcade (I got 2.49RM to the dollar). What's more, it came with a free Toshiba Flashair card redemption offer too.

Bringing the camera back isn't an issue - IF you forego the thrill of "unboxing" your find. Simply strip the camera out of the box at the shop and take a few snapshots of Plaza Angsana interior and exterior. If queried at the customs - just say you brought it in for snapshots of your JB daytrip. The shop can even store the box for you if you want to make a return trip to pick it up. You can also use the shop's address as a proxy for the Toshiba Flashair redemption (it take a couple of weeks and you need a Malaysian address to courier it to). All in all - more legwork, but really worth it - it's almost a 200 dollar saving for the TLK.

But call them before you go down - they may or may not have stock. The flashair redemption may also have ended.

The shop is on the fourth floor of Plaza Angsana and is easily found on google ("JB camera shops") - it's the one starting with the letter "J". Not gonna divulge any more lest it looks like advertising. But a bit of research should help you along.

Hope this helps!

Agreed with the above post but I didn't redeem the card cuz its useless to me. Secondly, my receipt is undated. I prefer using an otg to connect to my other devices as it's much safer.

i have a stupid question

1) connect the camera to the computer. U dont need to switch on ur camera.
2) open the software, the screen on ur camera will show options. Choose the first option. Press ok.
3) the software will detect ur camera. Battery must be in the camera.
4) if the software indicates current firmware different from the one on the right, its mean that there is a updated firmware available.
5) press to update and follow the onscreen instruction. Remember, u must wait till the screen indicate ok then u can press ok and disconnect the camera from the computer.
6) do the same for all ur lenses for m4/3.

Hope im clear enough.
