Because when I use rf 602, sometime I get small banding at bottom at max sync speed. That is my biggest complaint about rf-602.

The max sync speed is from your body. So whatever trigger u buy if u cross that syn speed u will have that.

For eg v5 can sync up to 250. But your body syncs to 200 u will still get the black band if u go over 200. No matter what triggers u use

Hope that helps

TS, this might be a noob question. Does Catcus supports iTTL or manual only?

Suddenly this Cactus V5 Flash Triggers become very popular in CS.

But still hasn't convinced me to leave my current Phottix Strato triggers away.

They don't seem to have a hole for the locking pins, everything you've said so far has interest me, except from your images, the lack of hole for locking pins as I've dropped both my flashes before due to the lack of the pins and carrying them even after tightening the wheel as well as what you said about the locking wheel which makes me think many times over if this is suitable

I know that matter. My d90 sync max at 200, but the rf 602 can sync at 1/200 cleanly at flash with 1/4 power or less. More than that, there is slight banding, very slightly. U can see that other user report the same though.

This is what I copy from other review :"The Production version of the V5 will have a hole in the hotshoe for the SB600's locking pin, so the SB600 won't feel so loose and slip out. This is one of the changes that was made during the review process."

I'm tempted to replace my pocket wizards with them so I can fund a rig for my 550d

But still thinking

anyone knows the advantage of these catctus over the Yongnuo rf602?

The banding is so slight and I can fix it in lightroom or crop it. But I want something perfect.

The advantage of this over the the rf-602 is this is designed better in term of use. U can push the max sync to 1/1000 ( with d40 and d70 only, the rf can push to 1/800 ) I use d90 and so the above advantage is not really applicable. About reliability, I think the two are the same. As far as I used rf-602, I have not a single misfire. And this cost almost 2 pair of rf-602.

My advice to new strobist is that u should get the yongnuo rf-602, it is widely tested by so many user. IMHO, u should get reliable trigger from the start, just one pair and combine with optical trigger, which is a lot better than the PT-04 type, which misfire a lot. It is my noob fee :(

Good advice and thanks for the link. One of the reasons I got plusiis last time the reliability on the other triggers were almost non existent
