Please bear in mind, I can do a bit of Canton (all those years of kungfu shows - ha ha) but they will defintely know I am no native speaker.

no worry....even if those from KL who speaks canton daily (like me), when go to Hongkong, they can pick up the accent that i am not local.....

just do your homework and price survey......

What nikon filters have you brought from them and how much?

Thanks in advance for the info. :)

yeah.. would like too... thinking of getting NC filters and step up rings and a slim CPL filter...

Just came back from HKG last week and managed to do some shopping, albeit only at Wing Shing.

Managed to purchase a Nikon 60mm f/2.8 for HKD2,550 (with int'l warranty) which comes to almost SGD200 less than what I was quoted in some shops here. For lenses that you can find on the MOs conducted by sykestang, oracle etc, the savings don't really amount to much. For example, I was quoted HKD6,880 (abt SGD1,400) for a Nikon 12-24mm f/4. You can find this going for SGD1,460 on the MOs. Paid for my purchase using my credit card 'cos I was told prices were the same regardless of the payment mode.

For peripherals such as memory cards, batteries, I think there also wasn't much of a price difference IIRC.

Hope this helps! ;)

sorry for the late reply. i bought Nikon NC filters and L37C filters from them :) can't remember how much though.

While it is advisable to get the lens from overseas, it is not recommended for the body as there is no worldwide warranty coverage for bodies.

getting lens in HK is fine...body tink better get it locally as got warranty

Definitely lower @ Tin Cheng in Tsim Sha Tsui. But they include surcharge for VISA card.

Sigma Report (nikon mount) & 77mm Nikon CPLII (slim) all in HKD:

Wing Shing (mongkok):
30mm f/1.4 = 3050
10-20mm = 3650
CPL II = 1150

DC Fever (mongkok): *Hong goods, no international warranty*
30mm f/1.4 = 2880
10-20mm = 3450
CPL II = 1380

Tin Cheung (Tsim Sha Tsui):
30mm f/1.4 = 2480
10-20mm = 3200
CPL II = 880

Ended paying via Visa @ Tin Cheung... nice and friendly staffs... patient and help me change lenses while i test for 30mm and the 10-20mm... Thanks for the advices from camelot88 & ThirdSunday... though i couldn't really test the 10-20mm but from the test shots i am satisfied so far (though HK had an overcast cloudy day)...

Any chance you are still there?
Can you help check out the D40 (body), D80 (body) price and the Canon 400D (body) prices please?
Thanks
P

Credit card surcharge is one factor, however do note that the bank converts (unfavourably for you) the HKD-SGD rate. Should always hedge the currency risk where possible.

is this with international warranty? sigma singapore recognised?

Anyone can advise if getting CF Gitzos from Tin Cheung (Tsim Sha Tsui) would be better than in SG. Will be there this weekend.

If not at Tin Cheung, where else? Thanks!
