i hope you guys are not thinking it as high ISO = good for low light. the understanding is wrong.
Please read up on film speeds (aka ASA) VS shutter speed. for understanding on why some people use iso 50 and some use iso 6400. It is not just because can use for low light. Understand the film and digital media of what is happening. EG. the size of the silver halide in asa 50 films and asa 6400 film VS digital iso 50 and iso 6400.
Next thing is... shooting at f1.2 and shooting at f4. lens at f1.2 does not equate to "better for low light." You need to understand the reason to shoot at 1.2 or f4. Besides depth of field. there is so much more to why you shoot at 1.2 or 4. So please do not fall into the thinking that shooting f1.2 at iso 6400 is better for low light. Cos that is really not the case. We just take it for granted that, that is the reason.

Thanks for the advise. I just turned on ISO 50 setting. Theres too much things to explore in 5DMII.. have to take my time learn :sweat:
Gonna explore abit. Yeah under bright hot sun + Flash and able to sync speedlite 1/200, able to open bigger aperture since reduce 1 stop and something about Dynamic Range... What else ah?? Anymore to share pls?
In what situation do you really use F1.2 and ISO6400, its like going to extreme? Care to share when is it applicable?

.... Night Shoot not equal high ISO..... use tripod.
ISO 6400 + f/1.2 give about 1/8000 + ???? Stop of shutter for metering... flying str (Strar Strek?) no need such high speed... The flying star would just look like a fly... a dot... cannot get flying.
shoot at ISO 6400 this SAT Fireworks with a f/1.8 lens setting and see what happens.

hmm Under Bright hot sun, you'll probably use the flash with a reason. Either with a fill in for shadow, solve backlight problems, have separation from background, highlighting something....etc the list goes on. But generally if its really a big bright sun like mid day, iso 50, f1.2 will probably get you shutter speed 1/8000 or more. So you are required to either use a filter or something to filter out a certain amount of light to increase the spectrum dynamics of the range. So in bright daylight, you'd probably wanna use 1.2 as a means of isolation more then anything else. But at the same time, even for me, i do not tend to try shooting at 1.2. Cos the possibility of a soft image is pretty high, esp if you don't know how to control the hyperfocal distance.
As for your 2nd question on What situation. qouted example F1.2 at iso 6400. I'll need to ask you, why iso 6400 and why F1.2? i shoot 1.2 only from a distance mostly or unless i have a good reason to move in. (So yes, esp when we shoot weddings, we are constantly thinking about every single thing we shoot and why we want to shoot it that way) Because the hyperfocal distance and light fall off esp when i use my flash will allow the subject i am shooting to stand out nicely, eg: more "3D". So if you ask me when is it applicable,i cannot answer you because its like asking me "how many ways are there to cook chicken"
