there's a thin line between being an idiot and having fun. especially when the joke is on the person who thought what could be a joke actually trolled him/herself by having a lousy command of the english language.

i laugh at you

go ahead and laugh.
your command of english language is superb, no doubt.

and I respect you for not being the typical singaporean.

In drill, everyone well mannered and can escape through the front and back of the train..,,,in real scenario, everyone grabar.....even resort to breaking train door's windows......many people will die if there was fire or gas......WTH....a few heads will roll i am sure.....and those inexperience train operator and station manager should send packing....

Wait till the signaling systems screwed up and trains go for a head on collision. Pay a little more and take other forms of transport so you will live another day to molest your dslr camera.

Our SMRT system already have one train crash during the 90s...

Ground staffs should not be blame on all these, they may want to act but HQ control may be stopping them. Especially during rush hour, the situation is harder to control.

In drills are always perfect...there is no "real" danger and people just act along, you don't have lights black out, air-con stop functioning. In fact not many people really remembers what the emergercy procedures. How many of us really listen to the flight attendent's safety brief before take off?

I was one of the unfortunate ones at City Hall last night. The paper cardboard & hand scribbled signs used were desperate attempts to inform the public & were real pathetic. A mrt staff with a megaphone in hand was explaining himself over & over again to the crowds who take turn to ask basically the same questions, whats happening & what to do. I feel sorry for him. A real failure on the part of the mrt to communicate & manage the situation effectively. Built up anger & frustration can lead up to vandalising, even riots. The buses dispatched to the various stations doesnt help much as most were caught up in the chaotic traffic jams. It was only later I saw on the news that the proper messages were displayed at the entrances to the mrt stations. Really mrt need to do another thorough & comprehensive review of their crisis management processess.

Agrees, the crisis mgt for SMRT is really bad. Ends up front line staffs are the one who are suffering.

i tot we are world class?????

Maybe third world only..........

anyway, guess who's head will roll??????

Guess wat. I'm reading this at kratib mrt waiting for the train to jurong. A train just arrived but it did not stop properly. The train doors are not aligned with the barrier doors and its impossible to board the train. After a while, the driver just bo-chup and drove off. So much for the service of smrt

ehem.. ehem.. the world class status has been achieved 24 years ago when the first train ran.

My thoughts:

1) Dont blame the SMRT ground crew and staff - they are just acting on instructions - who knows whats going on up there is not their problem.
2) In fact, thank them for their patience and lending a listening ear and hand in times of those being frustrated (Agreed: those affected commuters have a right to be angry)
3) Dont blame the SMRT maintenance team for not doing a better job (Nobody want this to happen more than anyone else)
4) In fact, thank them for their loyalty in servicing and keeping our trains on the go all these years
5) So who should be held responsible for such incidents - SMRT Board and Senior Operations Executive Officers??? I suppose the answer lies in each individual who may have an opionion of things.
6) This is just another unfortunate event (perhaps a blessing in disguise) in SMRT that happens in bad times (considering we just had one on the CIRCLE line last week).....A blessing in disguise that no permanent injury to any commuters
7) To all those affected in one way or another by this incident - COOL OFF and DONT ADD MORE FIRE to this.

Hmm.. Maybe mrt will use your reasoning.. Dun forget to charge them...

I hope I always hv customers n boss like u... :)

Actually my opinion is SMRT is really doing a lousy job in managing the MRT lines. Just take a ride from Jurong East to Commonwealth to experience it yourself. There are many areas of the tracks which are extremely bumpy, and the problem had existed for a very long time without anything being done. This just shows how bad the track maintenance is, as the problem is caused by loosening of the rocks at the foundation and can be fixed by repairing the foundation beneath the tracks.

And from yesterday's incident, it really shows that SMRT has a very inadequate crisis manage plan. Imagine if this is not a blackout but a fire. How many people is going to die?

take photo mah, then post to SPH.

Actually I find the tone of LTA's statements in the news uncomfortable. It is generally about blaming SMRT. LTA is quickly distancing itself from the fiasco.
So instead of playing the blame game so fast, it should help, encourage and support SMRT in its times of trouble. That is what leadership is about.
Don't forget that as far as public transport matters are concerned, the public can also hold LTA and the Transport Ministry responsible. LTY is a good and responsible guy and he will sort it out.

Not sure if they will distance when credit is given... Wonder...

not having any contigency plans to handle such situations is unacceptable... smrt never expected such things to happen???? and if they do have such plans how come the situation was so chaotic.... but I agree that people should not shout at the staff...... but dun agree with the spend $1 and need to receive 2 service...smrt is not that good...

why don't they open the emegency gate/doors for passenger to evacuate? if an attack occurred, how would they (staff) react? probably in chaos. useless tv education on train platform.

Complacent lah.... Always thinking one is world class is useless...
