Did hear of this case.... its a true story and it was told to me by an insider in the courts. Apparently its quite a famous story about how pressing for half of your hubby's assets on the basis that you are the weaker sex backfired.

It was a case being found between 2 professionals, apparently the wife was earning more than the hubby but she insisted on fighting for maintenance. Fought round one and lost. She didnt give up, went to appeal and I heard (Dont know how true) was quite KL to judge... kept rambling about she being woman and all..... (This part is true) The judge basically gave her maintenance since she insisted on it even though she was earning more than hubby. He awarded her SGD 1.00 per month and apparently because it is awarded by the court, you have to come take it at the court office every month. Imagine her face when awarded one dollar.....

only a handful resulting like this ?

All legal systems have their flaws and how lawyers win is by explioting these loop holes..... Its all about who can talk better and who can work the evidence to their favour. Thats why there are some that engaged a PI to investigate if their wives are having affairs to use it during the court case as she commited adultery and hence is entitled to nothing....
