fengwei, give it a try!

Thanks. I'm okay w/ the Omnibounce for now. Still prefer ceiling or side wall bounce better :) Besides, I don't really use flash much, Omnibounce is alot easier to carry around ...

A sample w/ Omnibounce and ceiling bounce (in a very dim dining hall):

I was trying to avoid ISO-200. P-TTL tends to do better in ISO 200 or higher ISO. Of cos with PS underexpose can be fixed easily, but if that's the case P-TTL doesn't work as well.

Previous discussion with creampuff, we agree lightsphere might do well with macro. That's the only reason why I got it. lol

Nice picture, everyone genuinely looks happy.

Any bro here that owns this bowl diffuser a little bit too heavy for flash head?:bsmilie: Mine every now and now will tumble down when I set it to 45 degree:confused:

Blame it on Pentax for the poorly designed (I would even say DYSFUNCTIONAL :( ) bounce/swivel lock.

So you have same experience? I thought I'm the only one who feels the diffuser is heavy. Like you said maybe should blame Pentax:bsmilie:

I thought my swivel locking mechanism might be defective but I was told that is supposedly NORMAL  The button works only when you need to tilt the head down -10 deg.

Just about all other flashes I've tried require you to depress the button to rotate/tilt the flash head.

Anyway I try to set the flash head at 90 deg when I mount the diffuser so there is less chance of it plopping down when the camera tilt.

Guess GF is a photographer over an inventor. Think he forgot to take gravity into consideration when he design & choose the material;)

Don't give him ideas... later he'll launch a new LS mk2 'lightweight' edition for limpy flashheads at twice the price ;p

I thought it is mechanism defective also. But i guess it is for the flexi rotation of the flash head. I don't know why they cannot use similar mechanism as the AF-360. At least the AF-360 have some kind of groove that prevents the head to tilt easily. AF-360 required to press the button to tilt up also.

side note for info only, the flash is make from different country. The AF-360 made in philippines and AF-540 made in china.

In addition to the seemingly flawed tilt/swivel mechanism, the QC is pretty crap on the 540. Cheap plasticky feel that doesn't inspire confidence that it will last 6 mths beyond warranty. The piece I got had a jammed internal flash reflector so motor made a screeching noise when powered up. Definitely the worst I've seen for a $600+ flash. :thumbsd: :thumbsd:

The Sigma 500 EF Super feels far more solid than the AF540 at just a little more than half the price of the AF540. Unfortunately it can be a little unpredictable sometimes as it tend to lock up every now and then.

How much compensation must I set where using the this cup diffuser? 2 stops?
