If it's $500 rebate from MSRP (which is $3999 - pls refer to

Have been following this thread with interest. Thinking of changing my (small) canon system to S2 or S3 Pro... The main reason is the little need for post processing (i'm lazy lah )

Make me wince when I see such/hear such a thing. So I'll add a word of caution here.

It is true that S2/S3 has very good out-of-camera images, in Jpeg. But you must get your technical basics right first. Give any LCD-happy-user any dSLR and he/she can still end up with rotten images. Give a 6X-zoom user (read long range) a 18-55 kit lens and he may end up with images that he'll need to crop a lot.

This is the case for anyone jumping ship from prosumer to SLR - be prepared to re-adjust your basics, for a new learning curve.

Also, Azure is right... fuji's camera's ahve very good out of camera jpeg's but the photographer's technical finesse is also important. No use having a good camera if one cannot handle the camera u'd get bad pix too.
