Nikon D700, Nikkor 14-24, Nikkor 24-70, Nikkor 70-200, Cleon remember we saw that ang mo at TK buying these setup all at one go ? I think he paid 13k for all including the 3 Think tank bags...

Thanks. I am highly aware of the branded "Trinity Lens" Nikon is strongly marketing. Being a normal and Cheapo / budget PG.

1. prefer Nikkor 16-35mm over nikkor 14-24mm. for my landscape range.
2. Nikkor 50mm F1.4 to cover my mid range. (walk nearer or further)
3. Nikkor 70-200 (maybe my last choice, actually don't know if i need it or not.) maybe Nikon 70-300mm VR will do the job.

i agree to some extend.. but ultimately, its the skill of the person that is still important. You can have the best equipment in the whole wide world but if you don't have the skill, its pointless at all. Whatever you shoot will be lousy compare to a person with skill, with skill the person can be carrying a so so lens but still can shoot like a pro..

A person with the necessary skill set will be able to shoot like a pro, reason been, he/she is able to understand the pros and cons of the lens to counter the cons of it. This also takes into account what type of needs is required by the person not wants. Its natural everybody wants to get a good lens. But everybody still have to start off with the basic and understand it at your finger tips. Many pros out there started off with lens tt dun haf AF-AFS etc. everything is manual. this makes them pro even when they pop over to DSLR. They understand the concept so well that without having to try n error so much, they could adjust the setting to the right one so easily.

lolx.. start thinking liao.. but for now i hold my horses... Kit lens still can torture a bit more.. I need a prime lens for bokeh.. if nt places tt are small.. not possible for me to move all the way back just to shoot.. no place to move back.. lolx..

I beg to differ. If a person feels that, yes, he will have photography for his passion and hobby for a very long time, I suggest that he just go for the best.

People like us, is that when we started out, we begun to think whether will our hobby last long or is it a 3 min heat in chinese. So, we started out with DX and Crop thinking it should be enough for all of us. End up after shooting for a year, and when we see other people's pictures taken with FX, we began to think that there's so much difference, yet no matter how hard we try, the IQ is still no horse run between DX and FX.

Anyway, I'm going for the 5D mark II end of this year, be it a Mark II or Mark III.

If you have done enough research, you will see that the think about 16-35 is the heavy distortion. Yes, every UWA do have minimal distortion, however I feel that the 14-24 and 14 prime for Nikon is a better choice.

The 50mm length is about the same as what we have 35mm on crop. Somehow, for mid range I still prefer a 24-70, which is similar to a 17-55 on crop. U cover wide to the mid range, use it on daily basis, snap whatever you can, and during emergencies, u have the wide angle.

Reason why people buy the 70-200 f/2.8 VR2 is cos of the bokeh it gives. The range is actually 50-150 range on crop, that's why it's so popular among the fashion pg. 70-300VR is a totally different thing. More elements, therefore don't think the IQ can fight with the 70-200 2.8.

That's why one thing when I grow up is to be a bachelor guy... See we all are peanuts compared to fashion pg in Victoria Secrets for example. They are all lugging their Mamiya and Hassleblad Digital Medium Formats.. And each cost at least $35k. Highest i saw was more than 60k with a 80 mega pixels Leaf Digital Back.. So to them, per assignment they charge a 6 figure sum, what's a 3k 5D mark II to them ? erm sounds like a point and shoot to them...

For me, i prefer to do what i like than spending the rest of my life with another person. Since I like to do what I like, I turn my imperfection to perfection.
