Bad Experience with Orient Photo

NETS surely will charge a percentage for the transaction. if not why they bother to provide the machines etc. why would the bank wanna provide means for ppl to withdraw money? even a 0.5% of the entire spending of the nation in a day is ALOT of MONEY!!

i bought from OP before and they stated it very clearly its cash price. i also have the same experience w lords before. cant remember how but but i paid part thru cash and part nets.

good price good service very hard to find. harvy norman very good service, can do installment somemore...but the price:thumbsd: :thumbsd:

The Mod should close this thread.

Since its likely that for photography items that usually cost quite a lot of money, the most common mode of payment will be NETS. They should thus quote a price that they will accept for NETS while offer a discount for cash. Not offer the lowest price first, but with conditions. Most shops in SG integrate the NETS charge into their final price anyway. Its probably not as if OP is dealing with tiny profit margins. If I were them i'd either absorb, or more likely, integrate the charge in. Makes more business sense if i were them.

i think you rounded up the thread with the most sensible post, stating exactly what ought be to be done.

Yeap, thats why I said ealrier that its all built in, whether its a discount/surcharge or otherwise. It has all already been factored in. So that discount you get may not be a discount after all :)

i think the difference lies in a pre-informed pricing. customers should be informed beforehand the reasonable overall net pricing, and not to have this and that added later when they see that the customers are hooked. in some cases, some additional charges are rare situations or unexpected and need not be pre-informed, but i think this is not one of those.

So if I'm going to buy a D2Xs from them I'll have to draw $7K and request for $2 notes from the bank and put inside a luggage and let the saleman count until they give up and next they will insist of NETS or CC.:bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

Shops accept cheques without waiting for the cheque to clear (at least for me). Also, I have often taken things first and then pay later because I happenned to be there, gotten introduced to something nice, and then too lazy to go ATM or walk to bank. But the shop will still insist that I can take it first and can pay later to avoid any inconvenience on my part. When I'm there again, then settle at my next visit.

In fact, my friends have been able to get the same treatment even for their first purchases (did not intend to buy) and for being first time customers. And no, we are not talking small $$. Many times more than ATM and NETS limit combined.

So this post is to tell all that shops do accept cheques besides NETs/CC as payment options. I guess they look at you to evaluate the risk. If you are quibbling over $5, I doubt any shop will view you as credit worthy and therefore, taken seriously. And some allow others to take the goods first because there is a high degree of trust involved.

Accompanied my friend to the abovementioned shop in SLS 2hrs ago to purchase a Nikon 35mm f/2D lens (in-house warranty), a 52mm UV filter & a 58mm lens cap. Tested the lens and agreed all items at a total sum of $499. After the saleman have written the receipt and my friend was about to make payment, when he took out his ATM NETS card, another saleman walk up and request for cash. So I said to him, we don't have so much cash at hand, so I said to him, what's the problem by paying NETS? He reply to me that any amount above $300 the Nets company will charge them extra $5. (Anyone out there heard such a thing before or is it a new rules).
After hearing that both of us got so pissed off. I told the saleman that we are not paying by credit as we all know that extra % will incurred if we pay by credit but now we are paying by NETS. The saleman still insist us to pay by cash and ask my friend go to the nearest ATM to withdraw cash. Now my friend got even more pissed off after hearing this.;(

By this time both of us told the saleman that we'll come back with the cash. But instead we walk out of the stupid shop and went back to office. Let them loose a customer today.

Very disappointed with the shop after some good review given by some CS member here.:thumbsd:

From now on my friend & I will not step into the shop again.:sticktong

It's ok, they got enough customers to handle other than you. Went down yesterday and I think they are lacking of manpower for now.

Because of their low price strategy, they have to reduce their cost by all means. Hence I find it reasonable to request for payment by cash. They can always raise the price by $10 and accept all payment methods, but that's not very fair for those who don't mind paying by cash.

If you consider this as bad experience, I can only say you are one of those picky customers. Maybe that's another reason why service in most shops here are so bad, because this kind of customers don't deserve good services anyway.

From my experience buying stuffs from OP for so many times, their service have no problem at all.
