AS USUAL: WHERE IS ORIENT PHOTO LOCATED AT?

Answer: SIM LIM SQUARE !!!!

Wat for go sim lim square and get ur gears ?!?!?!!? avoid sim lim sq regardless of watever crap shops is there !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've tried withdraw $1000 2 times per day at different timing but machine says I've exceed the withdrawal limits. I guess long time ago when I apply the account I restrict to 1K per day.

Not sure about your card, but POSB normally allows you to draw $1000 two times per day. It is just that you cannot draw $2000 in one withdrawal.

You're one lucky guy that the shop give you an extra discount. As for my friend he's just too unlucky, the saleman didn't even say he will give extra discount if pay by cash and keep insist we go down to ATM to get cash.;(

wah ...

funny about the TS, how come the shop wanted to charge you $5 more and mine was a $5 discount. hmmm sometimes my GF will say i always look so fierce hehehe

The building better known for dodgy fly-by-night shops selling saltwater goods and thuggish sales goons.

So if I'm going to buy a D2Xs from them I'll have to draw $7K and request for $2 notes from the bank and put inside a luggage and let the saleman count until they give up and next they will insist of NETS or CC.:bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

next time use a mixture of $2, $5 and $10 notes and dump in an envelope when you buy a $2k lens... see wether their time to count worth less than $5 or not..

Just give $1 coin.....

what's the fuss with paying cash?

there's TWO ATMs within 100 meters of SLS, btw.

You raelly think you got a discount?? Its all factored in already. Whether its a discount or a surcharge, its how you see it. Once there is a price differential, there is a price differential.

wah ...

i got my lens not too long ago from there. hand itchy wanted to buy, hmm if i remember correctly, they were quite nice in their sevice (my Chinese fail wan haha). it my ef-s 17-55 2.8 lens w/hood and 2 filters which i bought .

they told me cash payment, hmmm then maybe cause my chinese & his english poor haha abit difficult to communicate (the camera language is our common language haha)
i thought CASH/NET the same, but I did ask him if i paid by CC also, but he told me got extra charges.

they gave me quite a number of discounts hee on the various items haha .... cause i researched the price of those items in every reputable CS-er shop haha :p
so i thought gd buy :), then when i wanted to pay up he said can pay in cash ? i said i no so much cash. den he told me that OP would have to pay $10 extra for the NETS transaction. so i gave the supprised look hee, then he said, if you pay in cash I give you $5 more discount !! :) so i said okie and am now a happie customer of OP :)

What's the big deal. Charge you don't charge you.

Those that claim they absorb is a load of b/s. They just push the marked prices up. Tada. "Our Shop Absorbs GST, NETS Surcharge, Credit Card Surcharge, Supercharge, Turbocharge..."

my experience with orient was good..

I went there to get a bag and some other stuff. they didnt had stocks for it except for the bag i wanted which was too big a size for me.

one guy told me it'll come the next day. i didnt turn up next day as i was on duty but i did turn up the following day.

went there and straight away asked for the bag. i ended up indecisive not knowing which to buy. he was nice enough to ask me : Whats your purpose of the bag? do you really need it that big? your laptop how big? if its small and you carry big bag, when running, your laptop will "bounce" around which will damage it. "

i told him its because i was sharing with my sis and he said if thats the case why not get the bigger one since it's only $10 difference..

i bought the bag. it took me 15mins just to decide yes or no. paid all my stuff by cash. although he wasnt smiling or anything, but he made my day.

i feel that $5 is nothing compared to some shops i know who quietly charge more than that.

there's a certain shop actually charges $10++ for each transaction but they just say everything is abosrbed but their prices are higher. and worst, its grey set too.. and they have a worst way of handling customers.. Its quite sad since its one of the popular shops too.. I wont . and cant name the shop as my friend works there

In short; be nice and people will be nice to you; if they are reasonable people to begin with.

The last time I went to OP to buy a ballhead, they agreed to chop some off the price because I got my DSLR from them; then they charged back the difference when they sold me a screw for $6. It's small money, and I don't know, I think the price difference is so minimal to quibble over. I'd rather get the given price right away drop by $50, then pay extra $5? $6?

Like it or not, most people are happy with OP; the same regarding respect and doing unto others what you expect from them applies to other shops as well. When I got my Arctic Butterfly sensor cleaning brush tool from Cathay, I didn't argue about the price because it seemed ok to me, and the salesman suddenly just chopped $10 what he quoted me, shrug.

inconsistent service reflects badly on the shop in general though.

i think the idea is with the general trend of declining customer service - the thing they make you do is increasingly interesting.

i feel that for those who is ok with the extra trouble, it is fine. but the ts's frustration is entirely understandable and legitimate. if anything OP should do, is to quote the higher price and offer to reduce price if it is paid by cash, not the other way around. customers should be informed of the net pricing, not some pre-agreed pricing that will go up later in most cases.

Hehe buy in cash buy at TK Foto, ATM just 5 steps away. ;)

I was there yesterday to buy filters.. I wanted to pay by nets... then the salesman asked if I can pay by cash... he also mentioned if I pay by nets, they will get charged duno what (I also duno what he is talking abt)... and then say if I pay nets, he can only give me $1 discount, if I pay cash, $3 discount... I say it doesnt bother me... but from his body language, I gather he preferred cash...

So, I went to withdraw and then went up to pay... bobian...

Their service not bad I have to say... but have to remember they prefer cash...

ATM maybe there. Not not always convenient. I had to walked slowly thru the huge crowd before I reach the ATMs. Then when I am there, there were 6-7 people before me queuing at ATM too ...wasted my 20 mins.

Forgive me for saying this but I would have thought when you buy stuff from a shop, the staff, as well as ourselves, will try and form good relationships/rapport with each other so that on your next and subsequent visits, you'll get better service. If you do what you are proposing to do, I doubt very much that your actions will endear you to the salespersons. Do you really want that to happen? Or do you want a mutually happy and pleasant relationship with them. I know what I prefer. Anyway, I try to avoid antagonising them as I'll need their help/advice on equipment in future.

As a customer, you may be right but if you want special deals from them I don't think you will get them with this kind of attitude.

When you actually run a shop and NETS increases your fee, you'll eventually push the increase cost to your customer. You will not be doing charity business right? Sometimes the shop can be very busy and they can't be reading to you a list of disclamiers....
Good Morning Mr Customer
If you break anything, it's considered sold.
If you pay by credit card there will be a X% charge.
If you pay by NETs there will be a X% charge.
Cash is preferred and the ATM machine is situated downstairs next to the information counter.......
If you don't like it, don't buy.

Anyway, after reading what happened, I went there Y'day to buy some Nikon accs and filters. First I bargain for better pricing and then I handed them by ATM card. First they say they prefer cash but I showed them my wallet is almost empty and they took my card. You'll have to be nice to them and they'll be nice to you.
My experience was good! Maybe it was a bad day for them........too many like us asking for pricing....heheheheh!

After reading this thread, I think shops that are located near ATM machine have a slight advantage.
Maybe OP can consider moving to the first floor near the ATM. :bsmilie:

To a biz man, every dollars and cents count. If I'm not in a hurry, and cash payment is cheaper, I will definitely walk that bit of extra distance to go to the ATM to withdraw money. I will then advice the salesman to inform the next customer in advance to avoid misunderstanding. Or better still, put a notice to inform all customers paying by NETS there will be extra charges.

Will still continue to support them if the price is right :)
