since you pay by CC you can call the CC hotline to cancel it. :)

good piece of advice, tell the bank, the merchant did not deliver as promised and you want to cancel the charge. dun bother informing the store about the cancelled charge, let them rot.

When you dispute the payment, the CC will need to start an investigation.;p
The merchant does not get the cash immediately....:nono:

Depending on the bank that issued the CC, some will go thro' great lengths to protect its CC owners.

Yes I agree, but thinking that the CC will automatically cancel the payment is not true. In the case of NON RECEIPT of goods like in this case, I know my bank will take action and quite fast too. But that term fast is relative since it takes approximately 3 weeks to get my money back.

The 30D package at the IT show is not fantastic anyway. Other than the 2 CF card, the rest are not worth it. Also the price is jacked up to include the freebies. I would rather buy them from reputable shop minus the freebies at its actual street pricing.

i am sorry for your incident. but as a consumer ourself, would you the buyer check the item before paying and not surprise that there is no stock for you.

ofcourse, as there is no stock, refund is the right way.

From this incident, it reflected that Boon Electronic is doing badly and unethical practices.

On Thursday, I visited both Canon & Nikon (Nikon is maned by Best Denki)

When I first ask about D200, Best Denki clearly told me that only 10 set were available, once sold, means no more.

Then I went to ask about 30D, Boon told me that stocks will be available on Friday, can put downpayment and collect it on Friday.

On Thrusday itself, I thought Canon is going to win over D200 (or Nikon) customers, since Nikon has it own Supply Chain Management issues. But now I think Best Denki is a winner in term of company reputation since they only promised what they can supplied.

Sad that Canon reputation is being spoilt by Boon Electronic and leaving those buyers with a bad taste in their mouths. :nono:

hi is this the only booth in the it show that sell the 30d?if yes lucky for me not to go today.if not i will be the next victim. For all of u who is been cheated............in this manner.do standup and get to meet up and submit this report to the canon sg as i believe they are first time in the it show.most of the time is the regular cathay running.
also to prevent more victim, domake them feel worst.....:)

I don't think his saying bad about Canon, rather that the company selling on behalf of canon, afterall I don't see another exhibitor selling canon 30d at the show.

Start your complaining
Complaint to CASE, Complaint to Canon, Call your Credit Card Company

As for me, I definitely will not want to pay for something that was promised and not delivered. If have to wait 1 month, say it first, otherwise it's fraud.

Canon should also be warned not to tie up with dishonest companies. It's bad for canon supporters as they trusted canon.

oh... i think thats bad... very bad of them, when i was at their booth, they didn't mention anything about only having 20 sets with them and was sold out.. and i was about to buy it there n then. thats BAD..rotten sales tactics!

If I were you, don't just complaint to Case, Canon and CC. From what you've gone through or will go thru, I'll get a lawyer to sue them for fraud. I'll ask for full refund and at least another couple of thousand more for all the aggrevation that you have gone thru. This will teach dealers not to make promises what they can't fulfill.

?? Why did you buy from Boon? They suck and their price is expensive.. Anyway, I know how you feel.. I never pay for something that is not in stock, if they no stock then I will tell them is ok, I go other place..

On thursday! the very first day, i went to buy my Canon30D with the promise of getting the merchandise. I was hoping to get the camera so i can use it for my upcoming travel.

I paid for the whole camera with my credit card and then they tell me I have to collect my camera on friday as they have run out of stock. Fair enough, maybe it is the first day.

So today, friday, i went down AGAIN, the distributor, Boon electronics tell me there is not stock, DESPITE telling me to come back the next day to collect. (wasted one day here)

I have to wait until END OF the MONTH and still might not be guaranteed that i will get my camera, quote "Because of shipping period, there will be some delay, i cannot guarantee the stock will arrive as expected" according to the Manager of the distributor, MR L**** (which i will omit the name for r** purposes).

So what shall i do, i tell them i need to camera for my trip soon, all they insist is they can only provide me with my camera, which I HAVE PAID FOR at the end of the month, (which is also not guaranteed)

From 7pm to almost 10pm, I have to BEG FOR MY REFUND BACK, such customer service, this distributor remain adamant and I had to stake my stand on it. The manager said they only had 20 sets which was given out and the rest of us have to wait. The manager very adamant and non-chalant about the whole issue, and said it is not their fault in the whole matter even thought they, the distributors promised me the camera on the next day.

If i wanted my refund, I had to personally go down to their head office with all their free gifts (which cost NOTHING), then get a refund from it.
As i paid for my camera via installment, there will be a $100 bank charge for cancellation fee. So what am i do to?

There is no compensation for the long waiting period, there is also not compensation for the refund and not to mention, no compensation for the time wasted for me. I had to waste 2 trips just to get my refund back.
Waste one friday which i was suppose collect the camera which they promised
Waste another day to go down to their office for refund.

Now is this call customer service?
I HAVE TO BEG FOR MY REFUND< THIS IS RIDICULOUS!

Bad bad call Boon Electronics as a well known distributor. And shame on Canon for not living up to their supposed service standard.

My conclusion, never buy anything from the IT show, even thought they promised that their goods will arrive the next day, they WILL LIED.

I not only get a headache of begging them again for my refund on monday, waste more time and effort, and not to mention, I didnt get my camera.

I urge you all not to buy any products from the IT with this distributor and Canon because they lied and did not fufill their promise.

That's right.. Call the bank now and cancel / hold the payment..

I seriously doubt the other guy is from Canon.. He should be Boon Electronics staff, wearing a Canon T-Shirt.. If he is from Canon, give me his name.. I will lodge a complaint internally for you..

There were 3 of us with the same situation, paid up with installment, but did not receive goods. So i was not the only one, i am sure there are more people with similar situation. I may be the first person who start complaining on this forum. :dunno:

First I talked to a lady from Boon electronics, didnt do anything. so i waited for another person.

Another guy from canon, talked to the other poor guy with same situation and tried to convince him to wait for his product, i didnt like the way this guy was banging down on the poor chap.
Sorry being a woman, its tough when you see someone being banged down on. -> bad impression on canon guy. Shouldnt you be trying to help the poor chap instead of banging down that "since it is a new item, you should wait for it".

please read my sentence again, If anyone considering buying the new camera, should be aware that they will not able to collect their goods on day of purchase. I learn it the hard way, i hope others will learn on my mistake :(

That is all i shall comment about. It helped a little when i vent some frustration. Thanks for your advise

Actually, to say that Canon doesn't have a so-called obligation in this matter is not entirely true...

It is in Canon Singapore's best interest that they are represented on a product launch's first day in the best possible way.

If Canon Marketing was really interested in this launch, which in this scenario doesn't seem to be the case, they would ensure that stocks would be available on the very day itself.

Alongside with that, product unavailability in good companies on product launch-day is an absolute no-no... i've seen companies go through great lengths to get the extra sets even though they incurred extra costs to do so... like personally delivering the unit to the home with no extra cost to the buyer...

If you allow a distributer to display your Brand name prominently in an event like this, you expect the distributer to deliver the standards that you live-towards in your organisation...

its like designing and producing a Ferrari and then displaying it in a suburban shophouse in ToaPayoh...

You also work in Canon? How you know Freddie?

Hi ullyss,

I know you are mad, I know you are angry but it is not Canon's fault. I always find Canon had been providing good support to their customers.

If you still insist that Canon should be responsible for Boon Electronics's mistake. You might want to consider writing in to Cqnon http://www.canon.com.sg/index.cfm?fuseaction=contactus&prod_type=contactus under the following section

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Have a Feedback or a Complaint

Can’t get your message across or simply upset with a service lapse. He is the man to call and talk to.

Freddie Fun is Canon Singapore’s Director of Service Recovery. He will roll up his sleeve, channel the queries to the right department or put right anything that has gone wrong. That’s his level of dedication.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

By the way, I don't work for Canon, just voice out my personal view only. I am just a newbie using Canon camera. By the way, I usually buy from CP which so far does not have any problem at all.

Regards

I believe one of the more important lessons here is not to commit your money to something that you cannot get right there and then, wait till they get the stock in then commit, that's what I always do. Actually, I'm quite surprised that you did not check if they had any stock at the show, could have been the persuasive power of the salesperson.. Anyways, what they did is totally unacceptable, telling you only after you had give your money. I would have totally blown up if they did that to me... Follow the advice given by the others and be cautious in any of your other purchases.

Those of you who are interested can search online for "Fair Trading Act". This was passed about 2/3 years back to protect consumers. You can even claim "Costs" under certain circumstances.

His name and photo got display on the website mah, i contacted him a few times before, and everytime he will get back to me on the same day.

I think since this 30D is a new product and they know that it is highly anticipated product, their marketing strategy is SELL FIRST, TALK LATER.... machan we consumer sometime "BUY FIRST TALK LATER" lor........... get the order in and worry about the delivery later........ and they know that it is sold at a "good" price and we consumer sure can wait one.... sigh.... but in the threadstarter case, unfortunate he need it to go oversea....

If cannot settle with the seller, should go to CASE.... by accepting your payment, both parties have gone into a contract of agreeing to Buy/Sell the product.... and when one party cannot fulfill the contract, it is consider null and the other party can ask for refund/compensation.......

Hi jeryltan,

1) I am not working in Canon but I got friends working in it. That's all I can say in this public forums.

2) Mr Freddie's contact is shown in Canon Singapore's website. Many Canon loyal customers are aware of it.

Regards

wah, that was ridiculous. Bad service attitude from boon electronics. with such limited stock, they still dare to sell!;(
