B+W filters: worth paying so much?

Is it worth it paying so much more for B+W filters over basic hoya ones?

Was a skeptic before, but after trying out B+W filters, the color rendition is subjectively more accurate.

I use B+Ws on all my lenses (even on my cheap sigma 70-300 and the exception of the 12-24) and it's really worth every penny spent. :)

Ya after reading about how good B&W filter , where can i buy them at a reasonable price.

If you can afford it, it's worth it.

If you can afford it only by skipping lunch twice every week, then it's not worth it.

Are they a lot better than Hoya's Super HMC?

I read from sticky that B+W is like continental cars, good but expensive. Hoya is like japanese cars, good yet inexpensive.

We're looking at transmission rate of very close to 100% for both types of filters.
From what I see they showed not much difference when images compared side-by-side.
It's only the solid brass built and ease of cleaning(for B+W) that's worth the premium, at least that seems to be the sentiments among those who bought it.
Not sure if B+W performs better in terms of ghosting/flare reduction.
But it's more of better feel and SMOOTH coatings that's money well spent.
That said, if you're tight on budget, Hoya is great too!;)

The good Hoyas ain't that cheap too, but still slightly cheaper than B+W. :D

I have used B+W filters on my cousin's D80 before.. Brought it to Hokkaido with all the snow flying towards the lens, it's really easy to clean off n sometimes the snow dun even stick to the lens..can jus blow it off easily. I have jus bought D90..using the vitacon uv filters..notice v bad flaring.. :( sian.. Nw looking for a gd UV filter..mind sharing wd model of B+W to get for 67mm? :)

maybe the B+W XS PRO MRC?

I think F-Pro will do. XS-Pro is slim profile with no front thread. But I dun think you will need tat unless u are using UWA lens.

I just bought the XS-Pro, it come with the front thread. If not wrong the one without front thread is call "Slim". But as mention above it suited for wide-angle and maybe zoom lenses

some description on the B+W XS-PRO - http://www.photofilter.com/B+W/B+W XS PRO.htm :)
