Look like Nikon marketing respond to Canon 5D Mark III successful launch here last week is a miscarriage, ouch!!![]()

Actually, it would be better and less negative backslash, if Nikon hold back the launch until such time that they have adequate stock to meet atleast some demands instead of throwing out a few pieces and create frustration among users.
If I am Canon marketing, I will quickly ship in more inventory next week (beg, steal and borrow), this will soften the 5D3 price further among dealers and attract more frustrated defectors from Nikon camp, which will establish their hold on the market dominance once again for the next few years.
China RSP is about SGD4,770
HK RSP is about SGD4,360
M'sia RSP is about SGD4472
All are pretty in line. It won't be identical for sure.this is more than just exchange rate we're talking boys.
Ha ha you are right for D800. But the price for D4 in HK is about $1k less than in Singapore. Maybe not many people in China will buy D4 ba. So they don't have to adopt this pricing strategy?
LOL if it's Apple products short of supply, ppl praise about it and worship it
In Nikon case, total failure.
Way to go people. Nikon has said that the demand for D800 is unprecedented, they didn't expect it to be this hot in the market.
While for canon, the tsunami affected them to a lesser extent, and AFAIK the thailand flood mostly damaged Canon's ink printer factory while Nikon mostly if not solely on its imaging productions. So yeah, Nikon aren't able to supply enough at the moment. But there's no need to put all the blame on Nikon. End of the day, they brought out a revolution DSLR that entices all of you to go and buy it in the first place. Without such a great camera, doubt there would be any supply issue.
Let's all just accept the fact that this is indeed a truly amazing camera, and great things come with a price, sometimes include waiting. If you want 5DM3 just go and get it. Cheers

marketing strategy. i had a glance of another thread about the surprise street price vs rrp. makes sense to me.
I think it has nothing to do with the demand....
From what I hear, dealers are like getting 0-2 pieces each? What sort of demand are you talking about? The supply seems to be ridiculously low in Singapore. Coupled with the high RRP, you can't really blame people for getting irritated.
I mean if you don't have enough supply for singapore, I can understand as it might be difficult to get units. But when you couple it with a significantly more expensive pricing than your competitor, 5D3...
I just hope when the supply problem blows over, the final D800 street price vs 5D3 will reflect the US$500 difference.
Just curious, how many people here need the D800 instead of wanting it?
Sorry, is there a difference?
