Hmm let's see how Nikon will respond to this..

This was posted on DPReview: Any direct Nikon response to focus issues?: Nikon D4 - D1 / D800 Forum: Digital Photography Review

"We don't have any reports regarding AF issues with the D800; it was just released for sale.

In other words, Nikon USA is saying "What problem? Where got problem? No one complained so what you saying?"

Update from me: went to NSC ysd to get my accessories, saw 2 person with D800 went to service counter complaining about AF problems :O

So what they say?

Went to Sg camera rental to return gear last Sunday
Heard a fellow complaining about back focus with 1-2 lenses on the d800

I have tried my D800 with AFS 16-35 f4, it's work well. I think the focus issue is just happen with some lens and some of the body in batch

I've tested my 24-70 and it doesn't exhibit the same problem as the 14-24. So far it's mainly affecting both the 14-24 f/2.8 and 24 f/1.4.

Damn... these two lenses are one of the main reasons I would want a FF.

I can understand 14-24mm. But 24mm F/1.4? I tot you are into Birding & Landscape Uncle fai?

Hopefuly its only yhe batch issue. By the way is the stock coming yet. Seems to be ages.

I'm not sure how serious it will be when you're using it for landscapes and stopped down to f/4-f/8 because I've only done testing at about 50cm away and wide open.

Have u tried focusing nearer to the MFD for the 24mm F1.4? I really need that to work for me as I'm going to shoot it at 1.4

heard abit like saying about autofocus-ing problems, after i saw one of the staff bring the D800 in and used a 24mm f/1.4g to test the autofocus.

Sorry don't have the 24 f/1.4 to test anymore. Only got my 14-24 to test with but it exhibits the same issue so for anything critical, you should consider using live view to focus.

Or manual focus - trust your eye a bit can?

When i use 24mm F/1.4 at 1.4, I will not have the luxury to manually focus... Mainly use it for wedding event photography and capturing the exact moment is the essence....
Might not be for others but for me, I have to frame my subject to the right if I use the D800 now....

What about the good old "focus and recompose"?

Its more like someone got him a D4 or he won it from somewhere, thats y it is a brand new set.

Or just use bns as another distribution channel.
