The price for D800 in HK shops seems to go to S$5-6k already. You can check it out at price.com.hk. Until the supply can meet the high demand, be prepared to see shocking prices.

But we are not in HK. reasonable will be the SRP at 4488 sgd. but 5k sgd? not reasonable. Shops are taking advantage of the supply. And they want fast money and take advantage. Won't recommend Bally photo at all from my personal experience

The HK rrp is also around the same as Singapore. What I am highlighting that this higher than retail price situation will go away when supply meets demand. Anyway, most of us are not relying it for living. It's just a gadget. No need to get so excited about it.

Like canon 5dmk3 gd enough Liao. I even seen it in incheon airport Duty free shop 2 weeks ago.

cannot compare with Apple... that's consumer electronics... production tolerances are much lower so its much easier and faster to produce...


Canon looks like they sacrificed the 1Dx launch for 5DmkIII launch... the 1Dx was introed last year, before the D4 or D800 unveil early this year, and availability was supposed to be around now'ish, but delivery has currently been pushed to around June this year... Nikon cannot delay D4 cause they are an official sponsor for Olympics, so they had to push the camera out early to the hands of the pros who will be covering the games, along side the D800 launch (and we don't want Nikon to delay the D800 to focus on the D4 do we?)... and D4 will also be in time for Euro 2012... 1Dx at best will only start trickling out around Euro 2012, and might also be abit late for Olympics... at least that's what looks to be the case to me...

For those of us who do not need D800 for a living.. I guess we can always wait until things improved before getting it. In the meantime our trusted Nikon DSLR should still be sufficient.
