wow.. if my math is correct that puts the d70 body only around $1.4k? :dunno:

and couple more mths a used one for $1k?

 that really makes it affordable to get a backup body..

Bodies should be priced like that in the first place. They can do it since manufacturing technology advances both technically and in economically.

Either new model coming out soon or they are heading more into competition with 20D even though you may say different league (or perhaps a bit also for the black 300D). It's more for aiming the group of "p&s to first dSLR", and they will follow the brand usually after that. The 1.7k price with AF-S lens will be a real magnet as you need a much higher price point for 20D with 17-85 IS USM (combined total of 3.8k) or 3k for the ultra entry-level but convenient 18-55.

With this kind of competition, think stuff like E-volt may not survive.

Hmmm.... expect one (or maybe two) new body announcement(s) in Dec or Jan. :p

With Christmas looming round the corner, the increased sales of new D70s will definitely help the new models roll out smoothly, nevermind the lower profits...the Thai plant and low labour/running costs can take it. It looks like a winning strategy from Nikon.

Hmmm ..... D100 replacement comming soon :o :o :o

We can smell D200 rolling out very very soon................................

Time to BUY BUY BUY!!!

I doubt it would be with lower profit. Margins? Definately. But with the increase in the number of units sold, coupled with increased economy of scale...

don't forget the kit lens:

this makes the kit lens $350 new?
that'll shake up the B&S pricing too.

Nikon Malaysia website official price:
Retail Selling Price
RM 3, 188 (body only); RM 4, 088 (with AF-S DX 18-70mm f3.5-4.5G IF-ED lens)

Streets price should be at least 10% off normally...with the strong S$ now, it is cheaper if buy in Malaysia... :)

Still waiting for Nikon FD5H with the following features : -

1) full-frame 35mm hybrid SLR cum DSLR
2) CCD quality that even film SLR have to 'stand one side'
3) mechnical/electronics shutter that can even fire without batteries
4) VR technology built in body
5) gaffer tape supplied for those who wanna 'Bak Zhang' their investment
6) Interchangeable prism
7) Titanium body
8) Solar panal on prism to supply power even without batteries

Then I will buy buy buy!!! ;p ;p ;p

nt mani can afford a FF camera these days.. juz take a look at the Canon's 1Ds MKii, u will know... 16k for the body only... and DSLR... if its a SLR and DSLR combined, the pricing will kill and burn all pockets lo...

come to think of it...

solar panel not possible. it does not generate enough electrical power also... and a solar converter will be required to be built in... :nono:

VR built in ?? like the 8800 ?? lol.. tthats ... nice... :bsmilie:

i wouldnt want to gaffer my camera lo..... later got sticky material how ??
