The only "shortcoming" I could find for the D90 is the AF module. Wonder how's the speed and accuracy of the CAM1000 AF module?

no need to wonder this , wonder that

just place order with your favourite dealers , own one of it and find out

If you really 'love taking video' and can do with the lower-end still-photog capabilities of the D90, you can seriously consider selling your D300 IMO.

Already for me, I don't 'love' taking video (becos I hate spending time editing) but if I get a D90 it will mean I won't need a P&S for informal family videos. So it is a big plus becos I won't have to budget for 2 cams any more!

But right now I'm keen on the D300 because it simply has better handling - dedicated controls for AF & metering, and better VF info - which I always enjoyed with my film SLRs. Plus I can use some MF lenses I still have, with metering.

Still undecided so I can understand your dilemma.

just bought the d300 not too long back, now i feel heartbroken coz i feel d90 is more useful to me....

d300 is superb is so many ways, but i love taking video also and the ability to take video with DOF control/change of lenses is worth a LOT to me... was actually thinking of buying those HD Camcorder and mod it take different camera lens (would have set me back a few k)...

but now d90 come out and i still have my d300.... u guys think i shd sell d300 and buy d90?

:dunno:;(

Also, most family functions take place in a not-so-well-lighted room.
I think the D90 will produce better video than those PnS.

next time fireworks don need worry about setting liao, all whack in video mode sure get all the shots 1.

It's going to be tough deciding between the D90 and the D300 esp. if the price difference is only going to be $500-$600 (body only). The D90 is cheaper and lighter (plus movie-mode which i am not keen on since it is still under-developed) but the D300 has better AF and metering. For sports and BIF shooters, the D300 would be the obvious choice but for normal portraits and nature shots, the D90 should do just as well. I guess i will wait until someone does a comparison between the two before i decide.
