Are These Sort of Reponses Really Necessary?

Oh right, got it. It feels weird to be replying to myself.

:D It happens.

Nope; in my view they're not necessary for and from both parties.

well, they could do it factually without "sending one to the burns unit". that would embarrass the poor chap publicly.

diff mentality+culture lah... try to put on your "rubber mask" when you're asking for help... censor out the KL bits yourself...
no point vomiting blood over some words from someone you might no even know...

Although we do not condone responses as encountered in the thread, it is an unfortunate by-product of an online forum where ppl tend to hide between their nicks and feel that they have the moral right to post whatever they feel without thinking of the consequences.

On one end of the scale, we have ppl who post factually correct information and express their opinions openly without pride or prejudice and on the other end, we also have ppl that post sarcastic, desultory, inflammatory remarks without proper backing. And a whole host of ppl in between.

In most cases, language can become a problem when colloquilism or local meanings get thrown in and the whole message is mis-construed.

The situation becomes especially tough for Moderators, Super Mods, and Founding Members as whenever anyone in those categories steps in to defend a "colleague" (for lack of a better word), ppl tend to cry "Foul". Now, not saying that any Mod then has the liberty to start a flame war, far from it as Mods do have Codes of Conduct to follow.

But ultimately, we are all human with our own failings (and strengths), and this forum should be an embodiment of our behaviour in real life, and not show the monsters inside. The surprising thing is, having met enough ppl from online forums, the "real-life" person you meet face-to-face can be totally opposite to what they have portrayed online (truth!). So that fiery, vehement poster online may be a really really nice person in real life (and vice versa? hope not ;p ) - i can say that 100% of the ppl i have met first online and then in real life have turned out to be very nice ppl indeed.

I guess all of us should be thick-skinned and not take whatever is posted online at face value - try to understand where the other person is coming from. One of the most useful things that a member can do is to read thru your post/reply before pressing the SEND button - if it sounds inflammatory or could be misconstrued, edit it.

Brave and Sound Indeed!

Darren,

But ultimately, we are all human with our own failings (and strengths), and this forum should be an embodiment of our behaviour in real life, and not show the monsters inside.

You tell us the truth
We all can learn from it
Many a time our ego let us down.
We just have to learn to accept,
forgive and forget.

We must not show to the world
that we are hooligan of some sort.
We should learn from one another
and learn to use better words.

A clap to you Darren.
This forum will prosper
with better quality leadership
Trash the past and move on...

Thanks for all your inputs. Hopefully we wont see much more of these kinda exchanges in the future. :)
