Just picked up a Planar f1.7. Used it on m4/3 and am amazed at how sharp it is in the centre. It has a very different look and feel from Leica, Canon, Nikon, Voigt, all of which I have used.

Makes for a fabulous portrait lens with the 2x crop factor.

Contax N 85 for what it does best - portraits.

Very nice effect. Are the lens better than the current series or the same?

Short answer. Better is subjective. It is AF so is very convenient for portraits.

Slightly longer answer. The optical formula for both lenses are different. So do expect some differences. I have both the CY and Contax N but not the Z*. From my observation, the Z* are cooler while both the CY and Contax are warmer. I have not used both the CY and Contax N under the same conditions for comparisons. But my initial thoughts are the Contax N has a more pleasing and smoother bokeh. The cateye effects are also less pronounced.

One question which I should have asked earlier, there is only Canon mount available and not Nikon, right?

If you are refering to Contax N, they can only be converted to Canon and Sigma mount retaining electronic functions. If you are refering to CY, some of them can be converted to Nikon.

I am interested to compare this with the Sigma 85 as I have seen the MTF of the Sigma as being higher. Unlike the N50 and Sigma 50, both 85mm are built for portrait. So will be interesting to see a comparison.

A recent aquisition of CZ N70-200 Vario Sonnar.A picture to share .

Nice. I have been on the fence on this one for a very long time. Decided to stick with Canon cos I cannot handle longer focal length without IS. So this is one lens that I will forever be salivating after. Show us some outdoor samples.

This is my first foray into tele-zoom albeit the manual CZ 28-85 which was my all purpose lens . Have been handling the manual CZ 100 F2 & 200 F4 primes for a long time so I thought it's about time to try AF for a change.Have yet to go for the outdoors. Will be glad to share.

The shot's focal length @ 142mm 1/30sec F4.5

Did a comparison shot between the CZ N70-200 and manual CZ 200 F4. The N70-200 produced a more
deep colour red than it's manual counterpart whose colour red is a bit muted. The actually color of the
scooter is actually blood red. The shots were taken one after the other.

hi guys,

anyone uses the modern Zeiss 21mm f2.8 here?

i am due to buy one to replace my canon 17-40 soon however i come across this article that is holding me back...

this lens is no doubt my dream lens which i have been salivating over it for quite sometime :x

this article shows that when using with a Lee filter, it display hard vignetting issues...
http://advancedphototech.wordpress....mm-with-lee-filter-system-vignetting-problem/

is this true?

any users of this lens with a square filter having this problem?

bought my Zeiss 21mm f2.8!

here's a test snap shot:

Photo is straight from cam converted from raw file. Resized to 700 and uploaded to facebook, so quality might be a bit subpar

Will do more shoots when i receive my UV filter... now kinda scare to bring the lens out in the open, afraid i may scratch the front lens element with my clumsiness (at times!) :D

I like the sharpness and clarity of the images. Bring it outdoor and shoot some landscape and architectures, I'll like to see how it performs.
