Anyone still doing or interested in Large Format?

Back at home, I got one of Ruby's black plastic bag some time back and decided to see if its light proof by looking inside the bag with a lamp outside, suprise suprise, I see the lamp clearly. I got worried and it really happened, light leak. (Somehow manage to save one of the slides that was sandwiched)

I screwed up 2 of Peace's slides and the Black plastic bag also raped another 2 of his slides, ugh.

i think the used film boxes makes a good storage location for those exposed film.. i just sent 8 slides today to photohub.. cant wait

though it might have light leaks too.. the lady almost opened my box in the shop :(

From Sunday's shoot? :)

I feel like squeezing in a shoot tomorrow to do with urban architecture. Anyone interested let me know.

It's always a good practice to insist that lab staff open the boxes/packs in a light-tight/changing bang (etc) even IF you have the sheets in a light-tight bag INSIDE the box. ;) TAPE down the box lid down before handing in and write a note 'OPEN ONLY IN DARKROOM' on the tape as well.

I remember many unfortunate incidences in the past with various labs where clear instructions were not given, and staff just open in the light. At the very most, they will give you an equivalent amount of unexposed film as compensation. Not very helpful if the ruined film was of your once-in-a-life-time shot at the top of Mt Fuji or something similar.

The 3-way boxes are good for storage/transfer.

yea.. taping the box sounds good.. i wont be able to go for the shoot tomorrow.. the most i could probably do is to rush down from changi to photohub before it closes

**yoricko seems depressed.. :bheart: **

If possible, I will probably be shooting till quite late into the evening/night. I think you know where I have in mind :bsmilie: ... have to wait for longer exposure times so that the human traffic will blur out in the photos. ;)

Yeah ... these things are kinda a bummer, but it's part of the learning process Better early than later at an important shoot.

YoYo, hang in there man! We behind you all the way! Come join me tomorrow lah ... the more you do it, the better you get!

Hi all, I hope you enjoyed your outing. Though the process was not what has been expected? Its all right in my opinion, I faced problems as well. As long is not something that is of extreme importance.
I have a few suggestions,
1. To get light proof bag, you need get the bag that comes with the darkroom printing paper. It is light proof, but you need to fold and tape it up to ensure it is 100% secure against light.

2. Get more film holders. Send the whole film holder in to process. This have a few advantages. If the counter stuffs dont know what is that thing you are sending, they will ask the more senior stuffs to come out and attend to you. Moreover, you can avoid dust and finger prints while unloading the film.

3. Get the Grafmatic sheet film holder. It can hold 6 sheets in one go (what Dream Merchant is getting I believe). So save on space and film holders. But I am not sure if the fotohub staff knows how to handle it. So need to use back transferring to boxes method.

Lastly, nothing beats experience. Once you are shooting the 2nd to 3rd time, things will be very smooth flowing for you already. Don't let mistakes dampen your LF spirits. :)

Not sad, sleepy, just woke up. Lololololol.

Camera won me 1-0 on Sunday, today I'm going to win back my loss and get a proper slide out!

Way to go man!

I have a proposal - let's go to the Botanical Gardens for the next weekend outing. I'm thinking more of landscapes and abstracts rather than macros.

You have everything from majestic trees to wooden stands, benches and of course, loads of plants and walkways! Some of them can be very enchanting! And yeah, I'm thinking again of B&W. So we could share a box of the stuff (which I will get for myself anyways even if no one wants to share) and I'll do the honors of souping the negs for you. But if you want to shoot color that's perfectly hokay as well!

Let me know if you guys wanna go.

Oh, alternatively, Tiong Bahru is a quaint little town with unique architecture and quirks...and great food which you would need after the tons of walking!

Anyone knows if the old Queenstown is still standing?

Anything is nice!

I got my slide properly loaded this time! Bwhahaha, I pwnt you stupid EPP.

Sheetfilmloading.jpg

Vacuum clean the holder (in a separate room if possible)
before loading your sheet film.
Make sure you vacuum clean
the loading area the day before loading.

-------------------------------------------------------
I find loading film in the changing bag is more
likely to attract some dust even if you
try vacuum cleaning it. ;):)

It's alright to act impulsively at times for...

Knowing why you erred is essential to correcting
what seems wrong to you.
Knowing that you are big enough to admit mistakes
Shows that you are smart enough to profit from them...

For you choose not to lean on your own strength
and understanding nor stray into dangerous territory.

Clown, you are a great man, and we want you to join us

There's nothing quite more satisfying that seeing your first few successful LF results!

The computer screen doesn't do justice to the extended tonal range and sheer amount of detail captured in what is equivalent to a 100MP 'sensor' that's 4 inches by 5 inches BIG! :bsmilie:
