I was planning to get the 5N. I shoot 50/50 picture and videos.

Recently I came across this report and wonder could any 5N user here confirm this. Thanks.

Sony’s new Alpha NEX-5N takes great-looking stills and vibrant 1080p/60fps video, but many users have reported the audio is driving them bonkers. It seems that when the camera is moved, even slightly, it produces a clicking sound. A minor annoyance when taking stills, but it makes the audio track in videos pretty much useless.

Engadget tracked the problem down to the camera body itself. So this has nothing to do with the lens or anything external. There just appears to be something not quite tamped down inside the device. According to reports, this happens in all NEX-5N units. Sony has unofficially confirmed the issue to Engadget, but the company has not come out with an official statement.

no news from sony yet but if you have concerns, dont buy..

other cams has the same problem but this has been blown out of proportion apparently.. besides, such a small cam with internal mic, any light sound will be picked up by the sensitive mic.. sound from you turning the zoom/focus rings.. If you plan to do any pro work, should consider using external mic

Was at Berjaya Time Sq last week and visited the Nikon showroom and Sony Centre. Went down to Level 1 IT centre and the shop at the entrance (Tarita Photo) quoted me RM2600 for dual kit. He says it just arrived only come with dual kit. I think he did mention Sony is now having a 1+2 years warranty promotion. Looks like a good deal especially with the 3 years warranty. I was actually asking about the Nikon D5100 with the Tamron 18-270PZD lens (Rm 4080) and saw the 5N. Maybe cheaper at Low Yat Plaza.

very tempted to get NEX5N from KL ley, what shop to recommend? LowYat got like SimLim Square lvl 1-2 "chop carrot" shop boh?

I usually go to LY and Sungei Wang for the highend Hifi shops. There are some dedicated brand shops at LY like the Lumix shop on the 2nd level. Lumix was having a road show on level 1 last week. Use Rm2600 as a guide and you can go shop to shop at LY, Sungei Wang & Time Sq. I'm sure shops at JB should have the same deals.

Lets hope A77 and nex7 are free of this issue.

Succumbed to de devil and got my 5N. Tested de video clicking thing and for me, not a big deal. De sound only happens when u shake/pan de camera to and fro in a moderately vigorously manner which is not de way I shoot videos. In fact I usually try to be as stable and smooth as possible. So unless u re filming transformers 2 revenge of de fallen, it should be fine.

U try ask him "E-mount", "Aperture","focus peaking"... see he know what it is or not...
