They must be pretty good with some many positive appraisals seen here. But why not go that little extra mile and answer the phone in a more civilised manner? How many seconds does it take do that? If they can't do so, they should disengage the phone or get an answering machine. Face-to-face or phone, they are still customers and should be treated fairly.

just for your reference, i called CP before to ask for the price of 1 filter and they held me on the line for more than 10 minutes, after which i gave up and didn't bother to call them back.

But does it mean CP has bad service? I hardly think so!

And I have bought one of my lenses at John 3:16 and the service was fine. Didn't feel painful to pay $20 more for my lens but its just a pity they're not opened on Sundays :(

Its just bad luck la!

Great services from them no doubt. I don't buy enough equipment to qualify as a regular customer yet Sam remembers my name, my wife's name and sometimes even the equipment I bought from them! When I need good advice and service, I go to John 3:16 and wait my turn.

I would dare say their service is 1st class. Though I have not bought anything from them for the past 2 years they still remember my name and greet me whenever I drop by to browse around their shop. How's that for service.

You guys are lucky to be able to get thru' the phone to John 3:16. I never seem to get thru' but again like most has said, they are very nice people and can even remember me the second time I got there. Guess, they are always short handed. As in any retail business, you usually have to wait if it is very popular just like some would wait 1 to 2 hours to see a particular doctor, whilst the neighbouring clinic is relatively free. ;p

Yup, John 3:16, v good service. But must go down to shop and talk, very difficult on the phone. :p

I can vouch for them too. Really nice people, but don't call them on the phone man...

But Samuel misses you, you know.

I bought my first SLR thru them some 8-9 years back. Known Sam, Leslie etc since then. And yes, their face-to-face service is top notch, though you probably need to wait for your turn to be served. Stopped photography for a few years and recently went to their shop wanting to buy a DSLR. They still remember my name! Leslie even ackowledge me when I stepped into their shop. It was at that time, 3 of them over the counter......with about 10 customers in the shop.
For me, I will still recommend my friends to John 3:16.

haha, nowadays seldom go Funan liao.

Wah how come they can rmb so many people's names? Super good service la! Feel like king liddat.

How come the CP henry never rmb my name? :(

aiyah, remeber name also do not mean anything lah. Many customers in singapore will buy from whichever shop that sells that camera $50 cheaper. Some are loyal while many goes to whoever is cheaper. haha

I'm a regular there, and it is true that the crowd is quite large too, in proportion to the store.

I have recommended friends to get their gear from them, and they are quite pleased with the upfront-ness of both the guys at John. It's a place where we can sit down or hang around for some banter.

Every shop has their off days now and then, we're all human, so let's chill.

That's right, they are usually too busy with customers at hand. Even their own handphones go unanswered.

I really believe that they have probably forgotten about the phone call and it was not intentional. I really think this thread is wholly unnecessary

Recently there has been a proliferation of threads complaining about minor issues - so much so that CS seems to have become a Complaints Bureau of sorts.

I have patronised their shop and like many others here, I have nothing but praise for their services - special mention to Leslie and Samuel

If have encountered the worst kind of service that any camera shop could possibly give and it so happens to be at John 3:16. If I were to open share my own experience, I'll bet that it would definitely raise a whole lot of questions among people in CS.

However, despite of my own experiences I'm willing to let it slide behind me and just move on. So if I would need to buy anything brand new, looking for Samuel would be a priority for me in my own purchasing decisions.

I do hope retailer out some efforts in answering calls. Imagine one need to urgently check for stock availability of a certain product at the shop, surely dont expect them to travel all the way down ask to ask them right?

Yeah, maybe when personally at the shop they will even say "sorry we do not carry that product, you should have called and check with us first!" haha

Well, I had nothing but praise for the type of services I've gotten from them thus far.

I had to get a camera body on the day I had to fly with my newly wed wife for my honeymoon, as unluckily the older body had the shutter broken the night before.

It was a Sunday, and we only realised that they were not opened on Sunday. I saw a Samuel's handphone number pasted on the shop window, and decided to give him a call to try my luck.

After explaining my plight, Riichard, Sam's dad, actually came down and opened the shop for us to buy a body!

Why didn't I go somewhere else to buy instead? Well, that's because of previous good experiences I had with them.:)

When Ah Vee buys NEW camera equipments, it has to be JOHN 3:16 :)

KUDOS to Richard & Samuel Gan, Leslie and every1 in the shop

I was looking for lenses and happen to drop by. The shop was crowded yet they get my attention and assist on my inquiry. I think they still try to serve and be helpful to as many people in the shop. I think that is good customer services.

with a name like John 3:16, I think they may be Christians..
anyone know them personally?

Yes I think they are. But let's not get religion into this.

I know the father of the son who is now manning the shop, (If I recall correctly, the father's name was Richard).
Richard is a good experienced salesman of photo products from times past. I think much better than his son or current sales staff. He used to work at A&P photo at Lucky Plaza.
Richard may not be up to date with latest digital gadgets but definitely got superior communication, manners and sales closing skills.

All shops exist to make profits.
You case maybe just an oversight.

If not, then perhaps business is too good and they now feel they can thrash the customer around. If this is so, then it is the beginning of the end for the shop. But I doubt so.

I do not buy anything from this shop. Nothing against them. Just that I happen to frequent other regular shops, some in Peninsula.
