I'm considering to buy my canon lens from there. Would be it cheaper to get it from that site, or in other countries, if so which? As I have relatives overseas I could get them to buy back for me. ;)

From B&H, it states something about a grey market, does it mean that there is no warranty for the products bought and what if it's faulty, are we able to send it back? Would it be worth it then? (the cost of sending the item back..)

Anyone bought their lens before from there, everything okay? If it's shipped right, would it be shipped to our house? Would we have to pay any further taxes/custom duties for the imports and stuff?

If it helps, I'm looking at buying either a 70-200mm F4 L USM lens either with or without IS.

Is the price cheaper for other things like camera accessories or filters?

Help would be greatly appreciated.:cool:

There are two types. One is Imported (Grey) and the other is USA. Depending on your luck, the USA one might have international warranty. Perhaps yes for lenses, perhaps no for cameras. It's a good place to order, considering the USD is quite low. However, do note you still got to top up some cash for the shipping and is only worth if you have a relative in US who's dropping by SG for a holiday.

So it means that it'd be by random that i'll get either the imported one or the USA one?

Would be there any custom duties or extra fees you'd have to pay when bringing them over?

There's an option to choose to purchase either one. It's about 50 to 100 USD difference.

Customs is probably a definite, considering the items are more than $500, apart from the shipping costs.

Normally only browse that area for things i can't get in sg.

Prices sometimes might be more expensive than in sg, while some are really a great bargain. Do your homework before buying.

As for transport, you can use theirs or send to vpost. difference are negligible.

Grey market means a version meant for a country outside it's actual sale point. If you're incredibly lucky, 'grey market' at B&H might be a Singapore version, meaning you get warranty.. actually I'm not sure about purchase origin. A Singapore set bought in the US might not have warranty even here.

If we're talking about service, B&H has an excellent reputation.

Grey products are items brought in by someone who is not the local manufacturer's authorised dealer. I wouldn bang on hopes of getting a grey that turns out to be a singapore warranty product. do these overseas dealers even issue warranty for those grey products ??

I have gotten items from adorama and b&h. big items i usually ask friends who frequent to states for work to get for me.

Nope, just country that the product wasn't meant for. B&H is an authorized dealer for Nikon USA. The warranty cards from Nikon should be supplied with the box, just not meant for the US market. Don't know about store warranty, but my guess is no.

what about buying used items from B&H? any experience to share. thanks.

Their service is exemplary, lots of no-questions-asked replacements and such. However I'd still go with KEH.com for used stuff. Adorama has a bad reputation when it comes to customer service, so I'd avoid them.

Oh, I forgot to mention, KEH has pretty good reputation for customer service too. IIRC someone bought a film SLR off them once, it was missing a part and KEH sent it to him free of charge without confirming that it really was missing

ts, sorry for intruding yr thread. one question, whhat does KEH stands for?

I have bought from B&H before and chose the international warranty option. Price is usually about 100+ dollars more than the grey option depending on item. No problem with transaction. KEH is good too if you want to buy used lens. Best you set up a paypal account if you intend to buy from such sites.

I should also add that some sites only ship to US ,Canada and UK . To get around this problem you can use V Post ( Service by singpost). Which will provide a US mailing address and re-route the package to you in singapore at a charge. So Basically you have to figure out if it is worth the price in the end.
