here are some recommendations...generally easy to drink and not too tannic.
sauvignon blanc
cloudy bay (new zealand) $48
shaw & smith (australia) $35
reds (shiraz, cabernet sauv, blends)
los vacos (spain) $37
montes alpha (spain) $38
peter lehmann clancy (australia) $26
penfolds 389 (australia) $40
penfolds 407 (australia) $50
dessert wine
peter lehmann orange muscat (australia) $23
Err. Where exactly does one get a bottle of Cloudy Bay Sauv Blanc for $48? I've usually picked up for much higher...
And does anyone know a good place for other Kiwi wines? Never seen any Gibbston Valley, Peregrine etc around here. All you see is Cloudy Bay (which is great), Oyster Bay (good, but not in the league of Cloudy Bay) and Shingle Peak (you're broke, but you want Kiwi Sauv Blanc)![]()
german riesling is very nice but sweet though. my favorite now is italian wine, Brunello di Montalcino.
penfold grandfathers is great. try it.
fans of aussie wines...
if u like fine wine....
u can consider peter lehman's stonewell shiraz 1995, 1997, 1999
IIRC, 1995 was the year one of the best in its series.....
after taste of fine dusted dark chocolate!!!!! Extremely addictive.... unfortunately i finished the last bottle at Red Cellars (Cellar Rouge)..... now can't buy one to keep![]()
All these vintage years must be quite expensive, lah. Wait, let me sell my camera and lenses to buy a bottle or two. :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

(btw, Greece got some very good wines.. my kaki swears by the stuff..)
Do you have lobangs for greek wine? I've been searching (not that hard.. hahaha) ever since my fave greek restaurant was taken over by chat masala.
There's this extremely unique red this is sweet.. sort of a cross between a red and a sweet white.. fruity yet mellow
P.S. $$ on life's lil pleasures is $$ well spent!!
