Any Sony alpha 200 user ??

Read the review from http://www.alphamountworld.com/reviews/sony-a200-review for A200, it's actually better than A350 and recommended by the reviewer. I thought they are supposed to be the same in everything, except A200 has lower megapixel, no live view and bigger VF magnification (0.83x)?

The CCD sensor size is the same for A200, A300 and A350, except that for A350, it is bumped up to 14.2MP whereas it's only 10MP for A200 and A300.

So in layman terms, for the same sensor size, if you squeeze in more MP, there will be more noise. (This clearly shows why compact PNS cameras has lots of noise due to very small CCD sensors and very high MP)

Therefore, many reviews actually say A200/A300 has better noise control than A350.

However, I believe the difference is quite marginal to our naked eyes...

Of course, the reason I got myself a A300 is to have the same bursting speed of 3FPS and LiveView.

Whereas A350 will have a lower bursting speed, 2.5FPS maybe due to bigger file size.

A200 also have the same 3FPS bursting speed with A300?

If I don't need Live View function, which one should I go for, A200 or A300?:)

If you really don't fancy the live-view, get the A200 then.

Thanks Ken. Do you think the price will go down during upcoming comex?

Yes, bursting speed for A200 and A300 is the same at 3fps (using OVF).

LiveView will make your transition from PNS camera easier and your spouse or gf will find them more user-friendly.

Also, if you are on vacation, it's easier to ask people on the streets to take photos for you using the LiveView as not many people know how to use DSLR and feels more at ease when they know they can shoot it from the LCD. (This has really helped me when I was at recent holiday)

Lastly, if you shoot kids, LiveView is a god-send, esp for Sony's implementation, it's as quick as using OVF.

Depends if you need Liveview.
Plus the price of A200 and A300 about $200 diff for the extra Liveview

I user of A200 because dont need the liveview so much cheaper.
;)

Thanks for the advice. I think I will go for A200 once I sold my H50.

Another question, is the standard steinzeiser tripod good enough for A200?

Cheers,

No point, high chance it will topple. Save up for something like Manfrotto or Benro. To me, tripod is something that I will splash cash big time once, and use it for a long long long time without worrying about upgrading it.

get a proper tripod..

got the freebie tripod but it was freaking horrible LOL.

got manfrotto 190Xb

Thanks, read from the product page, the 190xb don't have head, what does it mean? no head ball?

I found that cybershot H50 shutter speed is same as a200/300/350 which is 1/4000 and I found it slow or maybe I never reach 1/4000 speed, does that mean the dslr shutter speed also same as H50 or much much faster?

V

Usually tripods dont comes with a ball head, you will need to buy one separately. It is more crucial component as it will be supporting the weight of your body along with the lens or flash. Forgot which model was it by Manfrotto, costs around $350+ including ballhead. It can support a A200 + VG + 70-200 G. Whether its landscape or portrait position.

DSLR shutter is faster, try firing burst mode with a Alpha and your H50. See which camera capture more images during that period of time.

I see, any cheap and good brand beside manfrotto and benro?

Yeah, initially I found H50 is very fast compare to compact PNS camere but after used for a while I felt it's getting slower and slower.

Bros,

How much is the shop selling for A200 NP-FM500H battery? Saw from Sony's singapore website, 110SGD, so expensive!

You can try to google for it.

It's cheaper if you get from the recommended shops. It should be below $100 and I would say it's a good price for an infolithium which shows you how many % of juice is available for your disposal which others are unable to give you that info.
