Hi, like to ask advice from u bros on which shops can I get the best price or package deal for a new A200K kit? A200 will be my 1st step into DSLR photography... I read up on other brands budget models b4 deciding on A200K. Guess A200K's real weakness to me is low light performance(I seen samples with clear visible noise at ISO 800... but for the advantages such as afforable price,value for money features, solid build, body built in IS, dust reduction and lot others.... it appeals to me more den the budget models of big brands Canon and Nikon who took away essential features such as lens compatible limitations, no spot metering, cheap plastic body...etc to sell their cams at budget prices. Glad I read up instead of just going for the big brands... You guys have some A200 group tt meets for outings shoots issit? Hope you dun mind me joining to learn once I get my cam soon :thumbsup:

A newbie in the world of DSLR, all my Photocrazy kakis suggested I must buy Canon.Was set on Canon 400D initially, but was swayed last min cos' I realised that Sony bought over Minolta, which means all my previous Minolta lens and 55mm filters can also be used, now kinda regret when I realised there are very few user or groups out there using Sony DSLR ? Is Sony alpha 200 really lousy compared to Canon 400D or NIkon for amateurs to semipro ?

its probably true that the A200 is no class leader in low light performance.
but can i recommend you a very good noise reduction method? take 3 steps back from your monitor and stop pixel peeping :bsmilie:

A200 - 10mp, No liveview
A300 - 10mp, got Liveview.
A350 - 14.2mp, got Liveview

i think that is more dependant of the lens instead of the camera
what matters on the camera is the noise generated per every iso level u increase

can I ask which is a better flash unit for A200? HVL-F42AM or HVL-F36AM? both prices are $475. Or anyone has a better 3rd party ext flash to recommend?

thanks, may I also ask some recommendations on prime lens and 18-200 for A200? think these 2 lens will be sufficient for majority shooting situations for me. Are 3rd party brands like Sigma/Tamron/Tokina cheaper? I noe they do lens for nikon and canon which is distinguished by nikon and canon mounts. What is the name of mount for lens they made for sony?

Get the SAL50F14 and the SAL18250, the mount is call Alpha mount.

get the 18-250, better quality compared to the 18-200. and a 50mm f/1.4, or an old minolta 50mm f/1.7. good combi for walkaround

A200 not really that bad la...i enjoyed my very much...
although i am a beginner, the A200 did not show people that I am a lousy photographer le...see my humble macro shots here
