You guys may want to try out the old Minolta CPLs - the glass itself is significantly wider than the thread. For example, I use the 72mm on my lens, but the glass surface covers a good 5mm wider than the lens surface. Solved all the vignetting problems I got with the Hoya. It is like having an inbuilt step up ring. The only problem is that the lens cap and lens hood do not fit. The glass quality is excellent though - easily as good as my B+W
