*congrats! let's party!! must know what type of picts u like taking tho...if scenery u need a cir polar, if people in daylight...you'll appreciate the fast focus and low shutter lag ;) if nature u need at least 2x 4+ close up filters and a flash light....i'm still waiting for the sigma flash leh

Sigh ... the images from my 1.5 time 55mm teleconverter has vignette ....

Back to the old drawing board ... my theorem is wrong .... sigh

The funny thing about the cam is that they have removed the "Made in Malaysia" sticker.

I got my 7Hi from the first batch that came to Singapore (Very early November). It didn't have any Made in Malaysia leh. It just states "Minolta Japan" at the serial number.

Apparently ... the one in the Show room ... has the "Made in Malaysia" sticker .... anyway, it is a good cam ... so far ... hee hee

hmmm... which one are you using?

It is a low end Raynox ... which can be switched to be wide or tele. Will have to start searching for alternatives.

I think I am not specifically tied to any kind of pictures just anything that is worth capturing ... normally will erase majority of the shots taken ... so .. you can call me any how shoot. but enjoy night shots as they look great if the picture is well taken ... guess I need a Tripod. BTW ... I got the wired remote ... it is very useful. Still got a lot to learn on the cam ...

Hi Snapper, i've went thru the Minolta Forum in www.dpreview.com and have found that most of the 7hi owners are using step-up rings to 62mm, u may wanna try 62mm filters/lenses. They are also highly recommending 2 teleconverters from Olympus, B-300 & TCON-14B. see the following site for more recommendations for Dimage 7/7i/7hi. http://webpages.charter.net/bbiggers/DCExperiments/html/d7_add_on_lenses.html
But i dun think any of these lenses are cheap, so after much tought, i've decided to stick to wat is available on the 7hi and at most get a 62mm UV filter, polarizer and maybe 2 +4 close-up lenses.:)
Hope these info helps;)

THanks. But I think the B-300 is one of the best teleconverters around. It is extinct now ... I will check on the price of the 14B. I don't think it is cheap though.
The pictures taken on the 55mm Filters look ok ... and will play with it a little longer to see how it goes.

I have just confirmed that the 7Hi is able to take infra red images. This would be the Hoya R72 (I think) which will allow us to take pictures near pitch darkness. Great if you use infra red light ... for night safari ... flashes that cannot be seen from the eyes ... will need to do more reading before I confirm.
The test is done by taking a picture of the remote control emitter on the remote control. It is invisible to the human eye but if the camera "Sees" it as a brigt light ... strong chances that it will be able to work. But the pics would not be in true color.

Are 62 mm filters more expensive ? Wouldn't it make the camera look a little wider in the front ? I think we will not be able to use the shade.

Thanks for the info.
