You got it totally wrong, one of the reasons why Pentax changed distributor was because the low price we got w Emjay....

Palace, not kitchen la..
More expensive than kitchen, but point taken, it could have been at St Regis, for example. :bsmilie:

Hopefully, Pentax-Ricoh's After Sales Service provided by APDS match the standard of Palace.

I'm sure the service would be better (can't be any worse than previous one anyway). Went there to service my Sigma lens once, was served pretty well by the lady at the front desk and the service technician.
Their office is more like a service center instead of a sales office like Emjay's.

do you have a chance to meet the service technician, Andy. he is a very knowledgable guy, and very patient to explain to you what he had done to service your cam/lens.

My lens was calibrated by a Mr Ser.
Good service, even let me into the lab and showed me how the check was done.

Sad lor ... if price not competitive enough then users will just jump to brands which are more visible with their high frequency of adverts & publicity events.
Fengwei, do u know if the pentwax webstore run by Emjay is still taking orders?
We will know soon enough on pricing.
But with web buying, it does not need to be all gloomy.
Don't forget that if APD can leverage on Sigma distribution to make Pentax presence into lots of shops (eg. Best, Courts, HN)
and dealers get a good enough sales margin, it can mean more ppl getting/knowing Pentax too.
Previously, dealers had poor margin selling Pentax, so guess who they'd recommend if queried by the layman buyer.
Anyway Distro only affects the local buying aspect.
We want to 'survive' as a community here, imho, we better make this a more vibrant/better community.
Thats why I've been posting to encourage folks here not to be just 'takers' and lurkers. Don't be so shy.
If community good, ppl show good photos, share info, have fun, it can absorb some negative effects of slighty higher price.
If price bad, and no community, everyone shy and quiet, then surely die lah!

I think Emjay was too aggressive in pricing, by doing that they had to save some cost from other areas (services, lower margins to the retailers and etc...), not many companies would take that kind of approach.
If the services w/ APD are much improved, even the prices go up a bit (but still remain compatible w/ other countries), I'd say it's still a better way to stay alive for long
