Interesting that they went with all the black versions of the cameras... Look more pro is it? Haha

cool. they are at redhill now, so near my place.

B+W, cheaper mah. heheheheh

I must say the advertisement does look very polished! But strange they left out their premium models from the lineup..the K5 and 645D..
Let's hope they have a good price to match a good start. congrats to APD on adding Pentax to their range. :)

Perhaps the ads showing those models was targeting a certain market segment.
Hope APD put up another ads for another segment with K5 & 645D.

I think single color advertisement is cheaper, so then can give special price to the new 8 Pentax gears when they arrive Singapore.

It's a good move to make the announcement. Wonder when we'd see Pentax stuff from APD in the shops. Now all the boxes still have Emjay's stickers on them, and as far as I know the hand-over thing still hasn't really started yet.

We all know Pentax is pretty slow in getting things done, but Emjay has been pretty responsive to new Pentax stuff. Now the K5II/K5IIs will be available in Japan by end of Oct, wonder when we'd see them here in local shops.

Heard from my usual shop that APD is aiming to sell at emjay era prices or lower, this should be good news for all pentaxians

Seems like next week will know when the new stocks of K5 II/IIs will arrive. Hope its in End Oct or Early Nov. =)

but not so good news for retailers...
if that's true, what differences are there bt Emjay & APD, improve after sales support service?

Its a rock or a hard place, when it comes to prices and visibility.

I remember having a discussion with Emjay on this in one of the outings on this as well.
Say an ad campaign $XX,000.
It can't come from thin air, and that cost needs to be added to the price of the camera model that is advertised.
The reality is that Pentax is not Canikon and the smaller number of units moved will mean less units to divide up the costs with.

Lets see how things go in the coming few weeks.
APD does give very reasonable servicing for their Sigma stuff, so that may be the plus side of things.

Personally, I think my standpoint has always been the same.
Reasonable price (considering warranty; convenience; local vendor support; etc) , I buy local, else easy to get anything online.
Main thing, shoot more photos, and show/tell people about Pentax.
If ever the user base grows, everything will take care of itself (ie. visibility; prices; BnS; community, etc)

APD will have the advantage of economies of scale, now their budget is for Ricoh+Pentax, as compared to the previous budget for purely Ricoh products.

looking at things now, i think it's a good move, if Ricoh+Pentax generate more profits for APD as compared to their Sigma products, there will be a natural shift of their focus to Ricoh+Pentax products which will hopefully translate to lower prices for consumers.

Unless APD wanna kill themselves ...

So where do we go for camera servicing?

I wonder will they push more for Pentax mount Sigma lens or Pentax lens ?
Anyway either way they still make money selling either 1...

I went to SLRR to check out K30. No stock. The new distributor is holding back the stock until they finalise the new price.... Hopefully the new price is attractive.
