Japanese Website info:

70-200mm F2.8G

Release date: Augues 2006
List Price: Yen330,000 (about S$4,653)

All prices before tax. Retail price is usually about 20% off list price in Japan. Start saving....

The above looks like going to be retailed at higher price than similar Canon lens with IS even though it doesn't need stabiliser :
EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM : (Yen280,000) RS$3,900 - CP $3180 / MS $3,100 / TCW $2,800

If buy Sony body, have to look elsewhere for much cheaper third party lenses such as Sigma liao but then quality may not be as good.

What do you guys think of the prices of new Sony lenses?

Seem like the price is very different from their initial price listed in the ennglish site (which they remove some info and pricing already) :dunno:
But DPreview still has the price, not sure it still stand correct or not.

As least the FA-EB1AM external battery pack (KM's BP2 equivalent) and FA-CC1AM hot shoe flash cord (KM's OC 1100 equivalent) is available again in 4-5 months time :) .

Looks like Sony has all the accessories line up for usewith their new DSLR. Most of the items look like repackage KM except the battery.

this mean the diyed batt grip still can be used on the new sony body:)

Yes eow it can but for your battery grip you will need to allocate a new hole for the wire as the cable release for the camera is located where the DC outlet was on the D5D.

no prob just burnt another hole for the cable to go thru ;)

should we merge the KM and Sony threads?

I don't get it. Why are the long prime so so so expensive? Why they are listed way more expensive than either N or C, I don't understand.

i still think the MSRP are all inflated one lah. take a look at Tamron website list prices - the tamron 90mm costs USD850! let's not make any judgement until the lens prices can be quoted from CP/MS color etc...

that will defeat the purpose of the eyestart feature since it will block off the eye sensor

how about a slightly revised eyepiece so that the eye start can still be used? hmm. anyway the a100 body the eyepiece seemed not flat...so i guess ppl wun nid to stick their nose against the camera to take photos
