AF-S 85mm F/1.4G N

hey can you shoot something that gives a lot of bokeh fringing on the old 85mm (should not be too difficult) and try the same shot on the new 85mm?

That is probably the biggest single problem of the AFD. thanks

Hey.. Paiseh, i didnt do the bokeh fringing test. I do not have D series to compare now but I could shoot something and post it up later bit. Oh yea, I didn't really know what to look out for but here's a rough sample between the two lens at D700, same setting.

Thanks PETE for the photos :)

I think you just mentioned that you don't have AFD 85mm f1.4 for doing comparison ?

No worries. I actually meant I don't have AFD lens now to do bokeh fringing test because I have to meet up with my friend to do the comparison as what I did this afternoon for the posted photos. ;)

Thanks. Actually you can see bokeh fringing quite clearly on your test pics :) for both the new and old lens.

I did a test shot last night on a piece of White paper with black wordings. I noticed front bokeh wordings has slight purplish while d back bokeh wording becomes with greenish. Could it be becoz of the artificial lightings in my room? But I did use a pop up flash to illuminate it. I'll post the photo later with my laptop after my dental check up! :)

Here's a few quick shots for all to compare. Taken with same shuttle speed, same F stop, same WB, same distant but no tripod :P

thanks for the comparsion shots. Anyone with experience on the focusing sheet and accuracy btn the 2?

CA looks pretty well controlled on the G.

now i need a reason to NOT buy the G...

G seems to be slightly brighter...

the sample shot shows Not much different between old & new lens. Unless pixel peeping ;)

Can someone test it on DX camera?
