AF-S 35mm f/1.4G Nano

600 f1.4? If nikon really makes this lens, I am sure it will be around 10k or more.:bigeyes:

LoL.... I was kidding bro :bsmilie:

Besides try 40K or more !!! hehehe.......

Looks like the Nikon prime dream team is almost complete :)

looks like you have the very first release picture of this AF-S 35mm f/1.4G in the world !!

600 1.4, or 1200 2.8, or 2400 5.6, or 4800 f11.
Much Much Much more than that. Have you seen astrophotography ED APO, FPL-53 or fluorite glasses (refractors) which cost like nearly 1 million Sing? Objective is probably like 350mm in diameter.
The tracking mount and tripod itself also gonna cost 6-digit range. The CCD cams also much more ex than MF digital backs, but yet its only like 4 megapixels vs MF's 40 megapixels or more. Its crazy....but just to show 2 very different applications in the field of optical and digital imaging technologies.

Anyway, looks like tomorrow or so has quite a lot of good stuff in stored.

the only ones missing are 135 f/2 and the 105 f/2... with these 2 old portrait lens updated.. nikon is back in full force again!

Wow. The force is strong on the dark side. Cheers;)

but I think it is sad that they priced the new primes so expensive.

I mean comparing the 14-24mm and 24mm f1.4, I think the 14-24mm is far more difficult to do. But they both cost around the same.

I just hope the 35mm f1.4 is significantly cheaper than the 24mm.

After all they have the 35mm f2 prime... and traditionally, 35mm is easier to design for wide apertures compared to 24mm

I used to say no system is complete without a modern updated 35mm.

Looks like I can't say that of Nikon after today :)

I'm just pleased that Nikon is close to completing its update of its primes (There are still significant gaps in the telephoto end), and it is indeed impressive to note that Nikon are creating really fast primes. (All the recently announced primes feature f/1.4)

Still, I hope the updates represent respectable value for consumers as well. It is well publicized that some Nikon users are not impressed with the new 50mm and 85mm, upon considering the prices of the new lenses.

Maybe not. There is a world of difference between f1.4 and f2.8. Many optical problems (like coma effects) emerge at large apertures but mostly disappear when stopped down by 1-2 stops, ie, at about f2.8. I guess that's why it has not been possible to make a good f2 zoom -- the optical problems would be overwhelming.

If you notice, the cost goes exponential as the aperture gets bigger. Canon's 50mm f1.2 is like 3-4 times the price of the f1.4. :)

I think Nikon is right in concentrating its resources on rolling out better lenses. Man, we all have waited a very long time for something like this AFS 24, and 35 f1.4G. Don't think many of us are complaining about the current line of DSLRs ...(yet)...

Wld be interesting to see how this AFS 35/1.4 compares with the new Zeiss ZF 35/1.4. I personally like the Zeiss rendition (have the ZF 35/2) but hope Nikon is able to achieve more contrasty images with its Nano coating technology.

Looking forward to see the review on this..

its high time they challenge cannon on 35mm f/1.4.. missing out a lot only prob is the cost.. seems likely >2k given that 24 f1.4 is already above it..

around S$3k lens.

now, to find the $$...

let's wait and see. considering the 50mm's price, my estimate is about 1.3K

:hung:

The lens will start shipping from November 19, 2010 at a retail price of £1699.99.

think around S$3k.

1.8k USD retail..
i would expect around 2.4k when it hits SG

Do you mean S$1,300? I think that's on the low side... I'm betting about S$2,000.

didnt see the price on Dpreview. considering that it is about the same as the 85/1.4; it is way overpriced.

52.5mm on DX format.

now...which to sell? 35/1.8 or 35/2.
