AF-540 FGZ Flash weird problems

If it is still under warranty, better send it to service center instead of dismantling the flash yourself. It is cover under the warranty. As far as I know, for your problem, previously, the flash might have to be send to Pentax Japan for service, so it will take at least a month or so. I don't know now our service center can service it already or not. Kayster's one is fast because it can be repaired here.

They should take 5 days to fix your zoom problem.

Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm

That's good to know now they are able to fix that problem in 5 days.

I just called the shop i bought the flash from,they told me to bring it down

Have just sent in mine today and expecting the worst since my set have 2 issues and might need to send over to Japan. One issue is the jammed zoom and another is the more than 4 seconds startup. Tough luck.

Hope it come back in time for my shoot in March. Might need to loan one in case of delay. :cry:

This problem and the stuck pin are the 2 known problems of 540 flash. Guess because now more people in pentax and using the flash that's why more reports. There are many here using the flash without problems too.

I got my AF540 flash nearly 2 years ago, and have been using it for several event shooting. Never had any problem so far.

And I know most users haven't got any problem w/ the flash. It's not that usual to get a bad one

Got a call from Kelvin just now to pickup my flash and was i surprised to hear from him this fast!
My 2 issues (zooming and 4 sec startup) are somehow related according to him.
Zoom stuck so flash takes a while to detect and start which is what he said.
Will try to pickup asap and do some testing myself as what Kelvin suggested.

Applause to the speedy service from Shiriro. I'm impressed!

was told they'll try to order if there're at least 5 people interested
3 people have already put their names down so i added mine
they said they'll try to get a better price if more people interested
