Advises needed for purchasing Lumix

Eeerrrr...manual zoom as in those zoom for SLR or DSLR lens?? FZ20 also dun have, other prosumer range of camera also dun have rite?? :dunno:

So far I think only Sony has but only 7x, look into the catalogue that you might have found in you mail recently. I read somewhere that samsung is going to come up something similar ie manual zoom and focus. Might consider an upgrade when Pana comes up with something like that on the FZ30 maybe? :lovegrin: then will be able to take more of those creative zoomed long exposure pics.

I can't say since I have never used the 20. But I have heard that the 20 is noiser than the 10.

Haven't really seen a good comparison myself too.... But the argument is that pana tried to squeeze 5mp into the same size sensor therefore resulting in more noise.

The counter-argument that I heard would then be all you have to do is to take the picture in 4mp and there shouldn't be any difference. Except the fact that you have a choice to take in 5mp if you want to.

Haha... And of course, I prefer the curvy look of the 20... ;p

But if cash is an issue, you should consider the 10 as well. No regrets unless you're intending to use the remote shutter. 10 doesn't support that.

I don't know the seller but he seem to be offering quite a good deal. If you're fine with it can get from him and sell of the parts you think you don't need. Overall it's very cheap. Can consider.

congrats! i was in the same dlilemma as you but after looking at the FZ20, found it too big for my needs, so looks like I'm settling for the FZ5 instead.
now to see if Panasonic let its potential customers down during the PC show...!

hmm i suggest u avoid the PC show for cameras.. PC show panasonic never give goodies based on past experience.. and they sell at RRP. 799 for FZ5 i think.
anyway most shops outside sell at about 80% of the RRP, maybe a few $$ less to undercut other shops.i think the $100 saved can be used for alot of other things, including cheap tripod, cleaning kit, uv filter, cheap bag.

I might be selling off my silver color mint condition FZ20 bought on 01/05/05. Just 1 mth old & seen outdoor action twice only. With silver metal tube adapter that takes 62mm filter, an expensive 62mm Kenko Pro1 HMC 1mm thick UV filter, a 62mm lens cap with string, 2 x 72mm lens cap, Emoblitz DS328AZ slave flash & 2 pieces of screen protector beside the one piece tat the camera already wearing.

Haha... This is the first time I'm hearing this. Often people would say that having a DSLR will give them a more pro look and the public will not complain about you taking pictures... But what you said makes sense too I guess.

More pro look? Public complain about you taking pictures? This is all equipment envy lah. You only need to "look" pro when you are doing actual paid photography. Even then...

I totally understand where Saiful is coming from. DSLRs (or SLRs for that matter) are obstrusive.

Street photography is practically useless, unless a) your subject is super super blur or engaged in what he/she is doing or b) you are damn good at being inconspicuous (i am big-sized, clumsy and look like a criminal... very hard to be inconspicuous).

On holiday, people are actually intimidated by the camera! This refers to both in front and behind the lens. And don't tell me carry a tripod instead of asking a passer-by to take the photo... already carrying a DSLR with lenses and accessories is troublesome enough...

I actually do miss my P&S digicam. Which is why I am considering the FZ-5, among others...

Guess what? Missed out both events, didn't go up to KL or attend the PLUG. Actually had a major heart attack :bheart: (literally) and was warded at NUH and just discharged a few hours ago. But my wife was kind enough to bring the newly bought FZ20 to the hospital for me to play around with :bsmilie: . So now on one month MC and hope to get some experiment with the Lumix when visiting parks and so on during my low level exercise.
