[adrewine] ~ Around the World with Oly

noticed your pictures are about Milan now. Just wanted to say your NYC sets are great. I am always impressed by how you have varied processing to give each pictures a very unique mood, and they usually goes well too! Hoping to see more of your works on buildings and old architecture, looking for inspiration on that genre.
just dropping by, dont mind me. (:

Thanks emlee for your kind words and you are always welcome to drop by anytime. :D
Actually I'm quite bad at shooting building and architectural shots.....I've given myself an F9 grade for that.....hehe............

As to my treatment, I always tried to replicate my shot to what my eyes see, how my heart feels and where my mind (Imagination) leads to...........my 3 senses are always dictating how I capture my pictures at the time of shooting or/and at the time of post processing..........
Especially now with the creative art filters my mind is always in the overdrive mode............as you have to learn and re-learn to see things in a different realm.

Instead of just capturing pictures as it is by the camera, the photographer can extend by creating another dimensional perspective by giving an emotional feel to the shots.......be it distortion, textures, colors, challenges, fear, weather, difficulties, etc.........

This "unique mood" that you mentioned is precisely the tight intertwine connection of place, people, weather, tool and self that have always affected my works.

It is my believe that the inner struggle is what you have to journey thru' in order to bring oneself to the next level..............instead of just relying on the latest tools.....which is the easiest to overcome (just go out and buy to upgrade)............hehe

As a free and easy shooter that walkabout almost anywhere I just hope I can be of much of an inspiration to you .............my form of photography are more like street, documentary and photojournalism style.

I do look forward to your Italy shots in your thread as they are very well taken.........Cheers!

Here's a shot taken with the in-camera's creative "Grainy Film" art filter..........Enjoy!

This state of mind is something I lack when I stare into really really nice architecture. I really need to see more, and shoot more in this area. Lack of imagination.
This state of mind is what sets you apart from the rest. Thanks for these inspiring words.

she is pretty haha :D

Ya......Russian XMM are very pretty and also very friendly........

Hi emlee........don't mentioned........You are most welcome.

Yes the state of mind of the photographer is utmost important.

Always keep an
"open mind" when one is shooting by exploring different angles, perspective, ratio format, ISO, Speed, WB, Aperture...........Don't just stick to one...........If need to use, I'll use it "because it is there" for me to use.......... :D

I frequently shoot with all the available setting in my camera....Eg. f3.5 - f22, 1/3s - 1/2000s, ISO 100-3200 even in the daytime situation.
I use all the available zoom ranges from my 14-42mm kit lens (equiv. 28-84mm). Learn to use them well. :D

'Always keep your eyes open, your mind clear and your lenses clean!'

Here's a shot for you my friends.......Cheers!

This is great! Look at the spectators' reaction. :)

Is it 1 shot or 'multiple burst' shots you used?

Thanks johnlim for dropping by...........yes this is a 'multiple burst' shots where you can anticipate more or less how the action shots is going to be like......

Here's another archive shot using similar technique to capture this kind of action with a slower AF speed of a Canon S3.

Cheers!

Andrewine, thank you for sharing these wonderful shots....Your skills with the basic tools put some of us (including me) to shame. It goes to show that with patience and practice, one does not need hi-end hardware to shoot beautiful shots....even a P&S can do wonders.

I'm gonna bookmark this to serve as an inspiration to me......I have given up photography actually and looking at these shots makes me wanna revive it.
Hope to learm from you one day....:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Nice shot. At first glance the reflection look more vibrant. Then on closer look, the sky reflection is not as blue but the rest of the reflection are very vibrant compared to the actual. Wonder why?

Anyway, great series of shots you have here ....

Thanks zorro18 for dropping by........Much appreciated for your kind words and I'm glad that some of my humble works have inspired you.

And yes the 3Ps are important........besides the Patience and Practice one also need PP...that is when you don't have the 'P'rime lenses......hehe.

Thanks scubagolfer. I think the reflection part is more vibrant than the actual part is because: :dunno:
1.) The reflection part on the water that is closer to the photographer is usually darker than the rest is caused by the shade cast by the trees around the pond and
2.) Maybe also the direction of the sunlight is coming from the left hand side of the camera.

Btw......the photo shown above is an inverted one............. that is the reflection is on the top part and the actual is on the bottom.

Here's another shot taken at the same time, same spot and same setting I think.......;)
