It was Good Friday, this 2nd April 2010.
And it was 5 days after CS crashed.
AlexK called for a IR shoot outing and a few of us happily went along.
The venue was the abandoned railway track just off Sunset Way.
The weather was initially sunny, but later it turned cloudy and drizzled for a while, before turning sunny again.

It was a good outing and I learned a lot during this session by talking to all my friends and discussing various aspects of IR photography.
Let me start off this thread and every one please go ahead and put up your works here in this thread lah...

I am using a modified Canon 20D with Hoya R72.
Here are some of my shots:

I used Channel swap to just differentiate the colours between the metal and the wood.
I masked the sign board at the end and did a Hue/Saturation to render it green.
It was a valuable learning experience for me.

We went under the bridge to try going at it from this angle.

Please give me your C&C's.
I am still trying to learn and am still groping my way around.

And to all my kakis - LowLights, vngks, AlexK, Wurdelak and SereneXMM...
please post your IR photos and let's have a great time again!

Nice. Like your #2. Got the rustic feel. Can pp away the signboard ? ;)

Haha... You terrible lah.... People purposely make the sign board green green, you ask to PP it away!
Lol... I newbie lah...

The Sun was playing Hide and Seek.. most of the shots can not make it

Here is a few to share .. Need input from Guru here .. about the color of #2 and #3. I am not sure if this is consider acceptable for IR shots .. Please advise

For #2 and #3 .. I adjusted the Tint in Hue/Sat (Pshop)

Thanks in advance

LowLights, I certainly very much enjoy the golden foliage of your #1.
The ELP is truly magnificent.
Your #2 I find the blue and wood differentiation striking and I like it very much!

After a while I begin to realize that in IR it's like painting, and everyone has free reign and everyone will do his/her own PP differently.

Hi LowLights, #2 is nice :thumbsup:

Yeh, I like no.2 as well

Anyway, I have only one to share. You've all seen it on my Flickr already but here it is anyway. Tried PPing the rest of the pics but didn't get the colors I wanted.

Thanks Guys

But do you all feel that have colors like this is "wrong" or should I say deviating from the intent of IR ? Honestly, I am confuse here :dunno:

LowLights, my personal feeling is, IR photo should not be so restrictive.
One should not be limited to channel swap and a little bit of hue/saturation tuning and, period.
I believe that the creativity of IR photo lies in its potential for painting in a full spectrum of colours.
Of course, to what extent, I think that will be the artist's call.

What do you all feel?

Thanks Guys

Hi bro, no worries coz I'm equally confused. :dunno:

Sharing some of my IR shoots during our outing. Though the weather was a bit disappointing, the outing was great and fun. Thanks and we should organize another one soon. ;)

I do agree with what you say.. but what is puzzling is that when I Google for photos .. all I see are pretty much what we "expect" of IR's photo .. if I may use the word "Standard Colors"
:dunno:

But I guess crazy color or not .. what is important is what we want to capture .. and perhaps IR demands more "artistic" representation then what I am use too :bsmilie:

Please if anyone feel differently please do share.. thanks

Good perspective!
You were the FIRST person to slide yourself in between the tracks to take this shot.
Bravo!

In engineering there are specification and limits.
When it comes to art and creativity, there's no boundaries

This is really remarkable, Wurdelak.
The girl's skin tone is natural. You are getting really good in IR skin tone.
That is a few levels higher, man!

This uncle just below the bridge - not easy to catch.
But you captured him just at the right angle, with the reflection and the colour of the water beautifully rendered!
