Compare in what way? On what features? For what usage? Give us more details.

Hi guys,

Good morning, appreciate the prompt help n response. . Actually it's for wedding usage. . I've actually tested the a99 at sony wisma and I love the way the camera is handle but until now I have yet come across a very detail report on real world usage. . therefore I would need advice from all the brothers here.

I'm reading up alot on both the d800 n the a99. Im not a mega pixel person as 36mb is kinda an over kill to me

Evf-love the evf, really beautiful n accurate.

Iso-Ive tested the iso up till iso 10000 and it is still very usable.. I read the d800 might be better? Do correct me if I am wrong. .

Af-very prompt n fast

Battery-heard it will last 400++ but this can be overcome with more spare batts

Need all of your advice brothers! Thank u! :)

If u don't need d 36MP, y dun u consider d D600?

Hi bro,

i am open to all, including the D600-have yet to read and compare directly with the D600 i have also yet to hold and handle one. open to all advice and debates. another reason why i am looking at the A99 is -Evf- been using an OVF in the past and this evf is very good.. really allows me to think compose and hit the shot almost the first time.. was testing it back then.

there fore might need bros who have the A99 to share what made u choose this camera over the canon and nikon- i know the zeiss lens is a pulling factor for some.

Well, the D600 uses the same sensor as the A99. For me though, the D600 is like the old Sony A850 - very stripped down.

The D800 is a great DSLR, though it's really a studio and landscape monster. It's highest native ISO is 6400, then it enters "boost" territory.

I would still recommend an A99 for the following:

- 24MP is "just nice" for filesizes, etc.
- Faster FPS
- "what you see is really what you'll get" EVF
- Fast PDAF in live view and video
- Articulating LCD (combined with the fast autofocus live view... very very very handy)
- Autofocus Carl Zeiss lenses (much much much love here)
- focus peaking, focus magnification, etc, all in the viewfinder

Hi Rashkae bro,

thank you for your feedback! :) i know this is a hard comparison as at the end of the day. Ultimately its the person behind the camera that matters most rather then the equipment. Most of us have our own opinion and loyalty towards a specific brand and would defend its prestige. so its like how u explained and your views/opinions would ultimately help in my judgement if i should sway towards the A99 eventually.

really appreciate such feedback!

Yup, though I have used, and also use, Nikon (D4 and D800). So I kinda see the pros and cons of each system.

If someone said their passion was landscapes, or they are mainly a studio shooter, I would recommend the D800 without hesitation.

Almighty, I almost bought it today...

what was the price they offered you bro? i have been asking them for a price today.. most of afew of the shop quoted me a similar price..

Why didn't you? ;-)
I have the feeling the price will drop even further soon.
